Hi there,
My car is due for it's 100k service and was wondering what everyones opinion is on taking it to a honda dealer for the service.
I have been quoted $715 for the 100k service inc timiing belt replacement.
just interested to find out peoples opinion of me getting honda to do my service at this price cause it does seem like a fair bit for me to fork out atm.
If anyone can recommened a mechanic in Melbourne who can do this service at a better price then plz let me know.

it sounds fair when considering its a major i mean major service...
most of the shops other than dealers can do the service for you, but in my opinion i will only let dealers or another shop discussed somewhere called N1 (am i right?)
but there are still things you can prepare before taking your car to the dealer by getting necessary parts urself... but might be able to save a bit on oil, oil filter, or if you have time get timing belts and things from ebay ( OZor US) i've done this before and saved me around 100 figure for 40,000km service (which is considered a major)

I got qouted $748
that includes:
timing belt, water pump, vtec solenoid seal, valve tappet adjustment, new rocker cover seal, cam seals, honda MTF, cleaned engine, new belt tensioner, new NGK spark plugs.
That all honda parts except the water pump, and its charged at 50 an hour cos I know the guy, and the time expected is 5.65 hours

ok this morning i call up 3 honda service dpts
one quotes me $690 including replacement of sparkplugs too..
so i say oh yeh dat includes replacement of timing belt right? then he goes. no
its $500 ontop for replacement of timing belt...
so its $690 + 500.... crazy f@#ks
so i decide to call another service (these are all in sydney)
then he goes $800-850
so im like oh ok. he says yeh dats replacing sparkplugs and timing belt
then the final honda i call he goes
timing belt + sparkplugs + major service = $750
so im like wtf??...........
and this is all for 100k major service..........
im confused and i need to book it in.. bloody honda..

Do yourself a favour and take it to Hanny's in Smithfield. They are very knowledgeable ex-Honda Australia tech-heads who don't give you any bullshit :)
Only catch is the booking system is a bit dodgy and there's no public transport nearby...

if that quote is including labour, its farkin cheap
my last service:
minor service
timing belt
rocker cover gasket - those 3 things were supposed to cost $550 till honda rang me up and said my water pump was screwed
so the above +
water pump
3 belts hanging off the timing belt
---------------------------------
$982 including labour

Hi there, I had my GSi 100,000k service done at Josh Sady in Essendon. It was $596.60 (inc GST). Was this time last year. It was the standard book service (replace timing belt, change oil and that's about it). I'm not sure if a VTiR is different in what's required...
I'm getting a major service done to my car right now at Geelong HondaCare, getting it back tomorrow. Also getting my transmission input shaft bearings replaced, new clutch.. and a few other things, so when i find out the exact cost of just the service, i'll let u know
