As i promised before, here is the D.I.Y Air Conditioning Filter Installation....

some pics are a bit dark, and sorry for the size of the pics.... :)

Hope this helps some people here.....

cheers...

Step 1:

Locate your passenger side glove box..... :D (hahaha, hope everyone knows where it is)....

Step 2:
with palms up, place ur fingers under the middle part, and PULL out the lower part of the glove box...... just need a little bit of force..... and it will slide out.....
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/3473/filter020hq.jpg

Step 3:
Watch out for the little metal clips.... (shown on the pic, circled out), there should be 6 all together, 3 on top, and 3 on bottom....... don't lose them..... some of them might be stuck in the glove box itself, just get them all out, and clip them all back into place....(hope i'm making sense, but you will see what i mean once u do it yourself.... )

Step 4:
you can see the white Air Con filter tray inside ur glove box, PULL it out.....
http://img400.imageshack.us/img400/1539/filter049om.jpg

Step 5:
CAREFULLY cut out the 4 pieces of plastic bits, ( i didn't take a pic of the tray before i cut them), and it should look like the following pic after all 4 has been removed. *carefully, don't use scissors, as they will break the weak frames.... I used a knife)..... cut at all the places that i've circled on the pic

Step 6:
Place the filter into the tray, should be a perfect fit, ensure the filter is positioned the right direction, Remember when putting the filter into the tray that the sides of the filter are caught by the lip on the tray. It stops the air from leaking through the side.

Step 7:
put everything back into place........... and DONE!!!

Hey man, I really appreciated that post because now I am trying to source a filter for myself. My wife and I suffer from hayfever so that pollen filter is a great thing. Such a shame that Melbourne being the allergy capital of the world and Honda Australia in all its infinite wisdom decided that its not really needed on the option list.

Have to try and source one now . . . .

Hi MrFit,

Thanks for the air con filter and dropping it off. Appreciate the instructions you have posted. It took 5 minutes to fit.

I think that it sucks poorly on Honda Australia not to supply this filter with the car or at least to have some stock in this country for those that wish to buy one.

If you think of the car as a big vacuum cleaner, especially during summer with air con on, without the filter the car becomes a large dust collection system. I am carrying a new born in the car and if the air is cleaner in the car I have piece of mind.

Cheers to MrFit and a thumbs down with Honda on this one. It does make me wonder what else they have left out in their cost cutting excercise. At least they supply brake pads!!!

Cheers

Benjamin

Thanks mate, I'd really appreciate it. I only want one for the Jazz, my wife has a Jazz VTi.

Why do you need to cut the plastic tabs off the frame?
Anyway, I just changed my air con filter after 1 year. It was grey with a lot of seeds from flowers and such. After changing, the musty smell was gone!

i cut the plastic tabs off to help the flow..... i was told to do so when i bought the filter..... :)

i guess it does make sense to cut them off.....

Thanks MrFit for coming over to drop the filter of and fitting it for me! My wife appreciates the effort. We can keep the vent to fresh air on high pollen count days now.

i think it doesn't matter, but the HONDA words should be on your left hand side.

there is one clip on each side, just to make sure that the clip are inside the outmost slot?? if u know what i mean.... just to preventing air going through from the side....

its so hard to explaine.... but once u look at the tray, you will know .....
