i have a b18c in my eg .

and the rocker covers been hitting the bonnet as the foamy thingy has marks of the corners of the rocker cover.

does anyone else have the same problem with thier b16 or b18 in eg's???

b4 u say its the engine mounts .. they are all new just travelled abt 500km ..
however im not running a/c so the a/c bracket and the lil mount with it is removed as it was fu(ked anyway.

please share ur experiences.

cheers

dude the 1st thing I would say is put back the a/c bracket and that lower mount. It will make a difference. it stops alot of torque movement from the engine. also helps save the top front engine mount from snapping its bolts and causing you more greif.

it will help keep your engine more solid and stable in the bay. but at the end of the day your bonnet will still hit. but not as much. nature of the beast

i've got a B18 in my ek, the engine does sit quite high but it doesn't touch the bonnet. I few friends of mine have b16/b18's in there eg's, sits high aswell but doesn't touch either. Probably did really help you did I :o

u can try putting some washers where the bonnet hinges are mate.
i can't speak from experience for EG's but EF's and ED's have the same bonnet issues with b18c's. my ED bonnet just closes and i thought if anything the EG would give a better fit

yeah dude what you can do is.. longer bolts and washers.. to lift the rear of the bonnet slightly up and then twist the rubbers at the front of the bonnet on the chassis.. of course with it being slightly lower than the rear and not that much from the guards either.. that way it wont touch and plus you get a JDM look..

oh and probly good to put that A/C bracet/mount back on too..

yeah the b18c only clears the padding on the bonnet by abt 5 mm or so ..
when i just drop the engine in .. the engine sat so high i thought the bonnet wont even go back on .. and i ran to the back to get the bonnet to try it on .. lol almost shit my pants :(

I've got a B18C in my EF with the same problem. I've put stainless washers under the hinges of the bonnet and cut some of the webbing from under the bonnet. You can put washers under the engine mount bolts but make sure you dont go too low, I haven't done this with my car because the engine only just clears the radius rods.

not exactly, its really the front section where the headers r hitting,
the rear engine mount sit on the cross member .. wich is fine

well i didnt have this problem..

as i fitted a EG6 bonnet which came off my half cut.

the EG6 bonnet is actually higher than the EG1,2,3,4,5,7,8, what ever there is.

B16A has a much lower (well I use the term much loosely) deck height than the B18C so that will contribute to better bonnet closure.

B16a = 263mm
B18c/B16b = 270mm

So yeah, 7mm difference in deck height:)

Well 7mm could be the difference between not closing and closing perfectly :D
