Hey guys,
On hot days, like today my coolant seems to be squirting out of the reservoir tank...my engine bay is covered in coolant and the reservoir has about 1cm of coolant left.
I dont drive my car often and never expected this. Is it because my coolant is boiling so its just squirting out due to the pressure?
The engine did not overheat, but it might soon if it keeps losing coolant this way...there are no other leaks i can find and the splatter in my engine bay when i try to trace its origin, it leads me to the reservoir.
Has anyone had this problem?
Your radiator is most likely cracked from a cold start......judging by th location of the squirts along the top......refill the coolant when the engine is cool.....start it up and let it warm up......and the coolant should spray out....otherwise one of the hoses is loose or leaking...
You hope its a hose as they are cheap as chips and easy to replace...
If it is the radiator depending how bad and where the crack is youll have to replace it......ie getting either an aftermarket or hitting up a wreckers.....

Thanks for the tips....drove my car home from work just now and yeah its not just from the reservoir its squirting from....its all around the top tank of the radiator......it leaks where the top tank meets the radiator itself...going to Hanny's this Saturday....

Sounds like a cracked top tank. You can get these replaced or get another radiator.
If the car isn't overheating and its spilling coolant into the overflow bottle......check your radiator cap.
