hey guys ive got a 1998 vtir prelude and want to fit an exhaust to it but dont want a typical autobarn fart can.
Im thinking of a 2 1/4 inch mandrel bend catback pipe with a magnaflow street series muffler.
and wondering if anyone has had any trouble with there exhaust being to loud
and wat you have done to quieten it down

putting exhaust on is just gonna make it loud... unless you get a custom back loop put on.. that will soften the sound abit.

thats why im putting a better quality one on so it isnt as loud and actually has a note unlike the constant moan of ye old autotechnica
how much would yous pay for a 2nd hand mugen twin loop catback system that has done 15000 kms
any ideas ?

depends on condition.
i mean, if its all banged up, forgetaboutit.
but if its in good condition, you can always just get it cleaned out if ya need it. Its just a bit of metal tubing

isn't that what he said?
I have a h22a in my accord. I have 2.5" piping, resonator and an xforce twin loop. It isn't obsenely loud, but if you're after something quieter I'm not sure what you'd do. My next step will probably be to get a longer resonator or a second one. You could also look at a high flow inline muffler on top of the one at the end. If such a thing exists. Just find a reputable exhaust place and ask them what they think.

yeah i know the my prelude is twin cam. thats wat i said. i just wanted to know if a exhaust would be louder on a twin cam then a single cam if they were the same exhausts

2.5" is too big... 2.25" is biggest you should go for NA appz

as stealth said! and its really gonna depend on your muffler as to what noise its gonna make/how loud. the mugen set up is in one of the best hands to buy it from. mcchook is anal about everything (his car) and he only has the best gear on and looks after it!!

this exhaust youre thinking of has done more than 15000 kms...
it is already at least 2nd hand... possibly 3rd hand

How about a remus exhaust?
They make a specific muffler for the prelude and sound great.
Is quiet at idle but just abit louder then stock with the low drone any sports exhaust has. Doesn't drone into the cabin at 3ks rpmand is abit louder then stock (where I like to change gears).
Above 3ks rpm sounds like any other exhaust - loud!
Looks great... remus is stamped into the dual chrome squarish shaped exhaust tips. The rest of the exhaust is black except for the tips.
RRP is ~900 just for the muffler and there is talk about the internals having a shortened lifespan as the internals are mild steel while the rest of the exhaust is stainless steel. But I haven't had any issues yet.
