Exactly wat the topic reads...I see a lot of american honda boyz usin them...but is there any real advantage to havin one? It looks kinda funky...but much point?

They don't do anything. there are certain times to use them(i.e. when changing the pcv system around due to a turbo, etc), but just slapping one on a stock engine isn't going to do anything except made get some oil vapors condensing in the engine bay and making a bit of a mess.

saxman: WTF?
These filters prevent oil vapours from being burnt by your motor. This new filter is designed to trap these vapours and stop them from being ingested by the motor or spread thru the engin bay. Oil vapours can in severe cases cause pinging, not to mention a nice oil sludge thru ya intake manifold!

^_^civic^_^ : Up to you whether you fit one. On a MAP sesnor equipped car, they are a good idea tho.

Yes, oil vapors in the intake charge can increase the chances of pinging(however, if on a mostly stock engine, you're having this problem, you've got a lot of major other problems). I've never seen a filter that traps the vapors.. plenty that claim to, only to make it condense in the filter, and either drip all over, or clog the filter, which on a system that's meant to be evacuating gasses building up around the crank isn't exactly a good thing. Needless to say that if it's supposed to be sucking gasses out, and gets clogged with oil vapors it's designed to trap, it's certainly not going to help.

Think about the purpose of the stock pcv set up. It's meant to remove pressure from the crankcase(hence p.c.v. Positive Crankcase Ventilation). The line at the valve cover is meant to be under vacuum to help draw gasses out.

so you would recommend the breather...

and thinking bout it isnt it feeding your intake with super hot air from the crankcase so hense affects performance cuase cold air is better then hot

dont quote me im just having a guess

i heard from someone though..
that it's a 10k fine if you have one of those...

other words i think claymore is referring to a catch can.

But i have also been told that the breather valves can let in condensation into the engine which is a big no no
