rattling noise from gearbox!!!

HI all

just another problem... there seems to be a kind of rattling noise from my gearbox when either, I have it in 1st and going very slow and have clutch half out or, when im in a high gear and goin slow (eg. 40ks in 5th gear).

What do you guys reckon could be wrong?

40ks in 5th gear ? Hmm.

Does it sound more like a "tingling" noise ? . . . like a small metal fork being rattled against a big metal object ? More than likely the noise is coming from your engine - called "pinging " or detonation . Its caused by pre-ignition of air/fuel mixture before the cylinder completes its compression stroke , makign that "rattling" noise. Take your car to a good mechanic , and tell them exactly what you told this forum. And, hopefulyl he can fix it ;)

i thought pinging is only when u are reving it high rpm?
