LEDs Into EG Cluster

Hey guys. I need to brighten up my cluster. It just seems dull compared to everything surrounding it. I know i could go and buy indiglo dash but i rather stay with the OEM layout and install LED Lights to replace the halogens. Has anyone attempted this kind of thing before?

If anyone can tell me where to find WHITE LED with 6.5mm base and 5mm Base in a Wedge type Form That would be awesome. Then i can direct fit the bulbs in with minimal effort.

If i cant find those bulbs i mite have to but white leds and wire them up to suit. Takes alot more time but not overly impossible.

You can buy them (5mm blade terminal with 4xLEDs hooked up together) from Motorquipe but i wouldnt bother

Change all the other dash leds you like but the main 3 that you have, that light up the cluster when changed to leds tend to be dull.

Also dont forget that LEDs are a single polairty so if something doesnt look like its working the first time it may not be. Take it out turn it around and try again.

Its kinda fiddily but its all a learning experience.

i just pulled off the stupid blue condoms off ,made it better.. but u lose the white clolured lights

yeah i've just pulled off the white condoms too nuttz! it looks a bit orangy/yellowish, i bloody hate it! If anyone knows where I can get blue bulbs plz let me know...

I just changed my indicator lights to blue (LEDS) as well, but today i noticed that it stops working after about 2 mins (only my right one) has this happened to anyone else???

As for LED dash lights ..if it improves the look of the car and is practical then i dont see why not.

Hmm seems like the only way would be to paint the bulbs, since it's so hard to get your hands on some blue ones

One thing you should consider is the mcd rating and the beam angle as leds come in a lot of different styles some of witch have a very narrow beam. As for blue ones they come in a mcd rating as high as 8,000 mcd ive got one for my alarm you can also get ones upto 16,000 mcd in other colours. I think the f1s use 50-100 20,000 mcd leds in red but you can get them from dicksmith an electronics places just a matter of knowing what your lookin for

i seen some at motoquipe also but i only saw 5mm base ones. I need 6.5mm

The 5mm one s fit into a 6.5mm hole but you will have to get a small jewellers screwdriver to make it a tighter fit.

Also Nightkids dont forget that to have an LED fit into a globe socket you will need to have an adapter of some form.

Oh ok thanks for that A.G. , i was actually more keen on blue replacement bulbs rather than LEDs. I'm only using LED's for my indicators. Would anyone know where to get the dash replacement bulbs? I don't mind ordering online cause it's just so hard to find, but i'll definately check out Jaycar & DickSmith tommorow.

So the size is 6.5mm or 5mm?

for an EG dash you need 5 x 6.5mm and 1 x 5mm

the LED at autojoy are MADE for the dash. no parts needed.
I also noticed the have a concave top instead of the normal domed head to spread the light more

Solved my problem. Went down mates accessories shop and bought a set of BLACK FACE Luminous Dials. Installed them just then and they really make a difference. I can change the colour to Blue or Green. They cost me 50% of the price of Full Luminous so im quite happy. :D
