Is it worth getting these two installed? I spoke to Indy from IS Motorsport the other day & Ferrari (On here), who both checked out the car... asked them what they thought of the CAI kits and said that the engines are already very tuned as is...

Car already has the straight through SS Exhaust & Headers, so i was wondering if matching the exhaust to an aftermarket intake & then having it all retuned with an VAFC would be benefitial to some better power...

Anybody here give me some advice regarding their power gains for the b16a2? Im a 4AGZE boy and know **** all about honda engines...

a CAI will make the car breathe a bit better, but if you want to do it properly - get a heatshield made to stop the hot engine bay air, getting sucked into the intake.

I can says from what i've seen with my own eyes on a VtiR, a CAI, exhaust and a VAFC which was dyno tuned - gave my mate a good 10HP@wheels and you could feel it!

Which ever way you look at it, those are basic 'mods' on most cars, so sooner or later you're bound to do it anyway :)

a VAFC is a Vtec controller...
You can alter when you want Vtec to kick in

which is pretty much pointless with those mods

it's also an air/fuel controller... basically, it's a Vtec-Air Fuel Controller

imo, they're a waste of money. There are FAR more capable options out there for less money. They're pretty guages... that's about it.

cai is a good investment to compliment ur exhaust. CAI doesnt need a heatshield because its already getting cold air. hence the name.

True - but CAIs are 98% of the located within the engine bay in place of the old airbox. Air temps reach 50-60 degrees inside the engine bay if not more - therefore its not really a CAI is it? providing a heat shield for a filter that is placed where the old airbox is - provides a boundry from that hot air.

So in the end if you're getting a CAI try getting one that does all the way under the bumper.

I think he is referring to an SRI....

CAI is well worth it  Do some research and invest in something decent the first time round :D

then scrap the VAFC and invest in an aftermarket ECU.

thats my 2c

CAI = all the way into the bumper
short rams are what are usually in place of the old air box.

But ive been hearing about a transitional loss in low down power with CAI setup, Is this true, will I lose slight power?

Plus the longer the intake, the less direct the throttle feels, which is what i prefer (in other cars i know this is true - as for crx unsure about)

Is there any gain? Ive got the XForce Headers + Straight through xforce piping...

Im running a Password JDM carbon (whales penis). I noticed larger top end power but low-range power was reduced. It feels like an T88 on 5lbs boost on a 1.6L stock engine - LAGGY. From what Im told the CAI's increase the mid-high power band and not just the top end. Get an AEM intake (if you want to spend the money) as they would be the best possible intake. The V2 would possibly be the best bet. Or the Injen and Comptech models.

i have original box with after market panel filter. then i feed a pipe from the box to behind the bumper where the openin is.

thats cheaper then a CAI and keeps engine bay stock.

Yes it is well worth it on the b16a motor. Speak to ghost, he runs basically what you are wanting to run and he will tell you how his car runs now after tuning with the vafc.

remember most of the gains with the vafc isnt from altering the vtec, its from adjusting the AF ratios.

MSG Chi on this forum. He runs my CAI and it gives power throughout the powerband. Its all about the size and length of the piping, trust me :) Much better then a airbox and filter with a CAI feed.

SINISTR: U are talking about a SRI. Its not a CAI.

ANd no need to spend 500 on a CAI when i make a copy for ozhonda members. check my sig.

Will this fit a del-sol though??? All these websites talk about the EG, Ek & DC's but nothing on the DelSol B16a2? Is it a replica engine bay???

Im interested in getting one of your kits...

Honda parts are mostly interchangeable, delsol is an EG based chassis, therefore Weq's CAI will fit.

the eg civic and del sol engine bays are slightly different around the area where the intake would dive into the bumper. The cai's generally aren't interchanable in this case as far as I'm aware.

Has anybody used on a CAI a Dry Ice setup or Coolant Freezer for intake air temp??? I know this is used on track cars, because theres a large space in the intake area... I might be getting the V2 from AEM, and a vafc or similar and getting it dyno tuned with some advanced timing (maybe the aem cam gears)... just for now... cheap & easy method of getting small amount of power out... try to open up the car a bit...

Ferrari... i need some lightweight rims man :)
We are going track early feb...
