hey guys, i heard if you have the gprs nav map thing in your car and your speeding, the police can actually use it as a tracker and find you.

anyone support this or against it?

you only use the GPRS when your on a trip far away, if you use it in the city..i dont think you would be speeding because of the traffic in your way.

and im supporting it, what if your car is stolen. the cops can track it down an get your car back.

dude all they have to do is turn off the gprs. or throw the module out of the car if it is hand held.

new gprs are installed in the dash, have fun trying to take it out, they still can track you if they turn it off.

I think you mean GPS...not GPRS

I think you mean GPS they can track you as it is built into the alarm and has a specific signal.
GPRS is a mobile phone standard which i doubt they can track unless they are tracking the IMEI number on your phone which i don't think the cops will do. Even teh telcos will not do it unless you cough up $200 (someone once quoted me the amount).
Anyway you can turn of the GPRS on the nav system and it should be fine.
