jvc ones are nice.
pioneer ones are easy to use.. and look okay.
the.. alpine ones.. haven't had much expereince.. but it's quite hard to figure out.
i guess it depends on models.. most people would go for pioneer.

but personally, i love kenwood head units.
thought about them?

i'd consider the specs and func on the HU when buying it. things like no. of RCA preouts or AUX input are essential for future upgrade. will you run component speakers at the front and sub in the boot? if thats the case, i suggest you buy a HU with at least 2 RCA preouts, preferable with a sub level control as well, i'll consider appearance only when it matches my dash lights/speedo. But those brands you listed are good HUs, worth consider. good luck

We usually recommend the Pioneer DEH-2750MP (or 5750MP if a little higher budget) for that price range. :D

Yeah the DEH-2750MP is a good choice or even the DEH-P4750MP. The DEH-P4750MP is retailed at around $399 but you can easily find it on sale around $250.

The JVC KD-G615 is really good too. It has a front mounted AUX input, so if you have and iPod and don't wanna spend anymore money to get a connection such as the Pioneer CDIB100 iPod adapter ($199), you just buy a 3.5mm headphone jack to 3.5mm headphone jack ($4) and plug your iPod or any portable music device to the unit.

i am using the older model of Sony 7715x for more than 1.5 years now, they are pretty expensive back then and they are great IMO, especially with that price, but make sure is an australian model coz US head unit will have different frequency range and you wont be able to listen to AM station here. but with only 250, you can have, 3 sets of 4v RCA, AUX, 7-band EQ, Sub Level control and rotary volume, why not?

- i have to see how much the 7715x is at jb
