long story short.

i came outside and started my civic EG hatch, closed the door and heard a shatter.. something broke, i went outside to investigate and closed the door. To my horror the cars handle for the door lost its plastic or spring thing that is responsible for opening the door. Now the door is LOCKED. and the car is started. The car is a breeze so there is no central locking.. passenger is also locked!

Called nrma, and i am still waiting. Its been nearly 30 mins now.

Questions

1. Where can i go to get the handle fixed or plastic/spring things replaced?

2. What long term damage can leaving the car @ idle for a long peroid of time do to the engine.

I just got an engine conversion too. It now has an si engine.

Thanx guys for all the help

not too sure , i think if u have good oil should be ok ?
i hear that on some cars if u idle for too long can wear your bearings but i dont think hondas have that problem though.
i too would like to know a definite answer.

Easiest way would be to bust the lock on your hatch(or passenger door) and get thru that way.
Afterwards, you can just remove the bar that locks it and use the hatch release lever to open it in future??

Anyone see any problems with that?

Need an original to copy a key, unless you have the lock assembly pulled apart...

if the stock breeze keys didnt come wth immobiliser, it should not b hard or expensive to make a copy/spare.

to the topic..is any of ur windows slightly open by any chance?

Idleing your car for long periods is not desirable... It can cause your cylinder bores to glaze up.
This means that all the tiny cross hatched marks in your bore, that trap oil so your rings stay nice and lubed, will be worn away... not good
If you plan on keeping your engine running for long periods it pays to give the throttle a quick stab, which eliminates this from happenin, every 5-10 mins
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

something about the oil not flowing to all the parts of the motor right? something on those lines.

Sorta, the oil drains outta the grooves made from the x hatch marks, causing premature wear i.e. rubbing back the bore so that the grooves are not deep enough to hold the oil.

yeah its better to drive the car lightly instead of warming up slowly

u could have turned off the car by stuffing something in the muffler. Thats how we stop out RC cars
