View Full Version : ek auto-to-manual conversion price
Hello everyone,
Anyone have a good ballpark figure for an auto-to-manual conversion? The car is a 96 EK (D-series engine).
Thanks heaps.

its cheaper to sell your car and purchase a manual version.
im pretty sure i read somewhere it costs somewhere between 2-4k for the conversion.
whoa, that's much more than I would have guessed.

correct. unless u were planning to do the whole she-bang i.e another motor than i doubt it would cost anything if ur mechanics nice. thats what i did with my corolla.
i mean, youll just be paying for the motor/ box etc..

you could do a b16a swap, depending on alot of factors of course, for the same price IMO. And with a manual tranny whilst your in the process..

i would say $350 labour will get the old box out and the new one in!
plus $350 again for all the fluffing around! remove oil cooler lines. mount peddles , instal shifter bars ...etc
so thats around 700 bucks plus oil!
u have to add any electrical modification that ur local mechanic cant do!
and of course parts!

you need to fit the new clutch cylinder + lines + clutch pedal and new brake pedal etc etc...i woudl think $1500 including labour would set u back
But...ask a mechanic !

If I was in your shoes:
If the car has done less than 100,00km, I would consider the swap.
Otherwise 100,000+, sell it and get a new or near-new car (maybe wait for the new shape Civic, or get an Integra Type-S, or Euro) :)
