question on clutch

after I drove in a very heavy traffic today! when I stop in the traffic light, there is some cracking noise coming from the engine bay! but when the car is running, there is no problem at all!
after a normal driving ....the cracking noise gone!
I know that my clutch is on the way going ! That's happen is it because of the clutch over heat? or something other things happen?

Try poping the bonnet next time it happens and having a closer look...

It 'may' be your clutch release bearing but until you have a more precise idea of where in the engine bay the noise is coming from, it could be anything...
