Hi all,

has anyone used a s2000 oil filter for their b16a? Will it fit straight on properly with no leaks?

i have heard a smaller oil filter will maintain higher oil pressure thus being better for vtec engines and for the track. However why didnt Honda recommend a smaller sized filter in the first place. Any opinions?

like 95% of hondas share the same oil filter.
yes it would fit.
as they share the same filter.

i really dont think you are going to benifit from fitting a smaller filter.

buy an oil pressure gauge first. see if there is a difference

K&N Also make oil filters that are suitable for honda applications

yeh I was thinking hamp but they are not too easy to get here .. only if you import them

So any benefits with the s2000 filter? I heard it has a better design than the normal b16 filters .. or should I not be worrying over things like this .. lol

reason ppl use hamp or smaller filters is to allow for better oil flow or pressure. But i could be wrong. If you want some smaller OEM filters than pm me.

guys if you want a good filter you do not use a small one.
Get the K&N it has good flow and will not break under pressure.

I've seen a standard filter go thru the engine cos the idiot put a stock filter (ryco) on a race built v8. It tore thru the engine.

Since then i've only used the k&n filters. They are reall good on the flow. you can actually feel the difference. Try it and you will see. But they are expensive. about $25 each. whereas the honda ones are $15. But i would recommend the investment.

Egsi from the forums sells them

genuine Honda Filters are awsome quality. why bother using anything else.

oil filter that goes on a NSX is the same as the one that goes on your B16A2

I agree with you regarding OEM honda quality however NSX and Legends share the same oil filter but are not the same ones used on the other honda's.

they sure do dude

NSX 91 - 05 use PL2 oil filter
CRX and Civics used to use PR3 filter wich has now been changed to PL2.
pre 88 ledgends used a cartridge type filter PH7 post 88 use PR3

old school hondas ( 86 civics style ) use the PA6 filter

basicly PR3 was replaced with PL2.

most honda dealers only stock 3 types of filters.

how can you 'feel' the difference by using a k&n oil filter? its just an oil filter..

Good question...I curious to find out as well...The only reason I use K&N oil filters on my Ducati is because its easy to safety wire them for track work.

stock 3 but basically use PL2 99% of the time (at my dealership anyways)

you will get higher rate of flow with a bigger filter but i dont see how it could or will affect your pressure?

I got a fubar'd OEM filter on my '00 accord. Bloody leaks oil like a bitch. The seal was crap. Changed back to $6 generic Z79A for now, no more leaks.

We ended up buying the small blue filters from a Renault workshop as they were about half the price. They sue the same oil filter on the Clio Sport and Megane.

The only reason we use them is clearance issues on the F3 engines. The larger can ones foul the engine cross brace

Ive seen the green hamp filters, and the beige mugen oil filters, and they're both the same size as the ones honda use for almost all of their petrol cars.
