Is aftermarket camshaft is useless for a car with auto gearbox? I have a auto civic vti and wonder how weak is the low end performance after the camshaft and cam gear changed? Significant? Any tech heads here could answer my question? Thank you veru much!:D

manual or auto
a correctly installed cam will make more power. doesnt matter if its AT ot MT. only trick is set up your car to suit the cam. eg tune your ecu
just changing cam will do SFA

so beside of cams, cam gears and valve springs i also need to get a HONDATA/SAFC/VAFC to tune up the car? or the factory ECU is tuneable?
yep a s100, cam and gear.

Sorry to bud in... but wouldn't the profile of the Cams have something to do with the need for an aftermarket ECU? for example, im looking at mild cams for my car - which are supposed to run on stock ECU - so technically a mild profile wouldn't need a piggyback would it?

making your ecu tunable is allowing your to alter the fuel/timming maps to suit your cam. piggy back system is doing the same thing ( sort of ). you dont need to go aftermarket for your ECU, but you can if you want.

whtas a piggy back system?
"piggy-backs" onto your stock ECU ~ via splicing the wires in the loom etc.
A "stand alone" unit is a full replacement for a normal ECU.

u dont need a new computer the car will still run
but u will get slight idling problems and not as optimal performance out of the cam. because u will need to advance/retard timing with the adjustable cam gear.
with the aftermarket computer u get more available tuning abilities and smoother idle and optimal performance out of the car.

i visited the Hondata web site and they said s100 wont support automatic cars.....so if i get cams and cam gears for my auto vti will VAFC do the same job? (Tuning to max. power output)

first of all u have CAM :P
one only lol
but getting vafc mite help get a good tune but i have a feeling it wont b the max tune..
i think getting power fc is better .. if they have it for ur model..
but why not get a b16a out of a vtir ? and do a transplant ?
better power for price then cam and tuning...
get an emanage rather then a VAFC.

I think it really depends on the card of cam you want.
if you want something high profile cam, it may a bit hard for auto, since high cam the power alway come high rev and not good at low rev. for auto, it is a bit hard to keep the rev in high.
if you want something low aftermarket cam, you will still gain power and no worries the ECU and low rev. so I suggest you buy the low cam or swap the engine or make manual
