Hey there everyone.
I just joined a little while ago, and this is my first post.

I recently bought my fiance a 3rd gen prelude as a Christmas present. You see, she needed a car desperately and she said that the 3rd gen is her favourite car of all time. I thought it was a little weird until I started driving it around. I wouldn't have believed how delicious it was unless I started driving around myself. It's incredible. So much so that I am getting interested in the mechanics of cars. B.P. (Before prelude) I didn't care much for them, but now I find myself staring at pics and trying to understand all that tech-talk.

So, here are my questions.

What's the best way of picking up knowledge when it comes to all the mechanically information in cars. I don't have too much access with mechanic friends, so that wouldn't be an option.. and the internet seems a little limiting at times.

Secondly, what sort of modifications should I be looking at when it comes to an auto lude? (I had to get auto 'cause that's all she can drive) I'm definitely going to get a manual 4th gen (most likely) down the line, but I thought it might be fun to play with hers as well. (she likes the idea)

Anyways.. have fun
Mattou

www.howstuffworks.com will explain the basic mechanics of engines/brakes/suspension etc.

Theres not much to do to an auto lude IMO..
Mainly an Intake, some headers and a cat-back.
Also some suspension mods.

btw, its against the rules to talk about street racing on ozhonda, just letting u know before someone gets annoyed at you. Im amazed you can take most other cars with an auto 3rd gen lude though?!?

thanks for the heads-up, paul.
Yeah, I couldn't believe how well she goes for such an old car. Once again though, I think there are a lot of really bad drivers out there.

Hi Mattou,

welcome to ozHonda.

sounds like your getting the H bugg.
the 3rd gen has a real nice feal to them :) I always enjoy driving them. Just make sure you take care of it service wise and keep up the mainanence on the auto tranny only useing genuine Honda ATF.
