I have a 7.5 fuse that blew on me which was connected to my gauges EG. the light in my cluster. I cant see anything now my whole cluster light is turned off. I replaced the fuse and turned head lights on and heard it sizzle away again. What could be the cause of this short circuit.

I recently installed amp in my car. Everything was fine for the whole week till now.

Help Help Help. I cant drive in at nite now.

Are you sure it wasn't cos of your amplifier install recently Tien?

Well thats what im sayin Julz. Thats why I mentioned amp. I dont see how amp relates to that fuse. Amp has its own fuses. If amp was creating short circuit wouldnt it pop its own fuse?

i had this same **** when i had my car.. my lights worked for about 3 days.. then blew, and never turned back on..
but it was due to shocking wiring..

i doubt that'd be the case for you, since urs ain't a conversion or anything..

i'm assuming it's something to do with your audio system.. as it never happened before until recently..

i had the same prob dude, im guessing cos u had to install the amp u dicked a bit around behind the head unit. Make sure the dimmer wire isnt shorting behind the head unit. That cost me $40 at an auto electrician cos it was pissing me off so much.

Thanks dude, im thinking dimmer wire to. I was looking for the wire last night and it was a bit dark so I didn't know which one it was. By any chance does anyone know what colour cable the dimmer is? While you're at it whats the antenna wire too?

u'd be best to up electrical tape on the end of all un-used exposed wires
the antenna wire is for when u put radio on the antenna goes up automatically..

ps. i didnt know u was viet.. i just read ur sign ahahaha

Um LOLO. I just chopped the illumiate cable at the back of my head unit and duct taped it. Works fine now LOLOL. As for antenna i cant find it. I was just gonna snip it off becoz it ****s me how its always up when my head unit is on and i never use radio.

Headunit = some old peice of **** pioneer stacker.

BTW. Thanks bunsai for your help.

u driving a DC2R??

the antenna tends to stay up on them when u swap the decks
i can never figure out why...

Mashimaro

yeah dc2r...Its becoz there antenna power is connect directly into the back of the head unit. Hence when head unit is on dam antenna is up. Its a pioneer thing i believe.

1. make a switch
2. cut the ****er off LOLOL.

Does it matter if i use a 10 instead of 7.5 fuse? I dont have any spare 7.5 atm onli 10. Woudl it really make a difference? Cause any problems etc?

hahah its recommended to use same rating

i've used over/under before.. its just that if u use a 10A the fuse wont blow as fast as a 7.5A would i think???

Thats what im assuming. Just wondering if there any side affects. If theres a short circuit again that 10 will blow in time.

Note: I am far from an electrical wizz, but you might want to put an inline fuse in? That way at least if it blows it wont take out stereo, dash etc . . .

arent all fuses in-line?

why would u run it parallel for?

By putting in an inline fuse before the fuse box, you might be able to narrow down where the problem is occuring. Was just a thought thats all.
