hey guys,

this question has no doubt been asked b4 but i've searched and cant find wat im looking for! ive got an eg si and these are the two options im deciding between at the moment.. im looking for performance so dont care about sound or looks or anything like that... i need to know wat would be best option out of these two:

1) J's Racing Copy Intake (yes ive found one!) with a better pod such as k&n

2) stock air box with k&n panel, all resonator and rubbish removed and a bigger hole cut in the bottom for 3" piping to run down into the front bar for cold air intake

which would give better performance?? cheers

option 2
becos the airbox keeps heat out and airfeed comes from the front

I think the J's one is a good choice.
since it s got a big area behind the pod filter. you motor will have faster response time because it doesnt have to wait the air go though the filter first. I understand that heat will be a problem, but I think air flow is more important for honda engine.
however, in my opinon, K&N filter for J's intake is not worth. because it got 4 inch intake hose. if you want that size of K&N, it will cost you quite a bit. so I think stay with normal pod filter with J's is good.

comparing with stock K&N filter design, it is cheaper choice. but I dont think it s got good air flow as J's one.

i gave it a day not half an hour.. read the dates. and yeh i went wit j's intake.. so im gonna build a heat shield around the filter, and run some cai pipe to it as well... best of both worlds!

yeah I agree the J's style fatt-ass intakes have actually been dyno-proven in many tests to be less performing (across the rev-band) than a similar 'standard' intake like an AEM etc. it looks PHAT.. but who cares.

it may *seem* faster

but like...just try driving with it with cotton wool in your ears...then you will realise...dang even tho it sounds cool...its not as fast =P

gotta agree with ya there man. next intake setup i do will be an enclosed pod of some sort or the stock system modified for better airflow with a panel filter. At the moment i've got an exposed pod with a heatshield and the heatshield does jack all. its a waste of space, although it does look bling.

Function over fashion fellas.

hey guys, yeah i want to do my intake buy i was thinking of putting an air scoop on my bonnet with a ram pod for better response and a heat sheild so my acceleration off the lights isnt effected but then again thats probably bull, would the air scoop in the bonnet be connected somhow to a box acting as the heat sheild howeven that would mean that the intake would have to suck air through the air scoop, maybe thats restricting! hmmmmmmm or maybe thats just too technical for what it realli is or its not worth the work, bonnet scoop is anotha idea though, is it possible to over suply air to the filter and take away the /back pressure/? just a question haha
