A few of our traders sell HIDs, go check them out.. :)

You have to know though, HID is illegal if it is not standard in the car or If it doesn't have headlight washers..

Search around the forums dude :) I remember someone who installed HID in his cars with photos...

technically, unless the car is fitted with HID from the factory, then they're illegal unless you have headlight washers and auto levelling system (although rules can be interpreted for requirement of headlight washing system only).

Legal/not legal doesn't have anything to do with the colour temp (kelvin rating), however, the attention that a higher kelvin rating setup gives will give police more reason to inspect the lighting system closer.

just try to go 6000K and below so your car wont take too much attention so you wont get hassle with police

a standard h4 base bulb is always a dual filament high/low beam bulb
most brands of HID conversions (the german ones I sell do)give you an option of just getting a low beam only with the pin configuration of a standard h4 ... with HID being 4500K or higher even using a low beam only as part of your high beam should be bright enough ... btw most brands (cheap or decent quality) dual high/low HID conversion kits still only have the one HID bulb for low beam , the high beam they include is a modified normal H1 (an arctic blue type usually) bulb grafted onto the assembly

probably better going with the low beam only option and getting some decent H1 bulbs for your high beam lights ... should be bright enough for your requirements

be careful though - as previously stated these things are illegal for low beam use if the vehicle doesn't have headlight washers and a levelling system (use em for high beam only though and it's perfectly legal)

FYI the stock headlight is not designed for a Xenon type light intensity... that is why the xenon specific projectors have better cut-off shields.
when I say cut off, here is a pic of the light from a Euro xenon projector - note minimal light leakage above the light line (nb this is a LHD cut off):

No offence spoon-accord but you're getting some MEGA glare there with the HID 'kit'... what you should do is retro fit a Euro projector, ballasts, ignitors etc into your headlight.
For some inspiration, try www.hidplanet.com/forums
:) cheers
I'm retro fitting some Euro projectors into my other car headlights ( http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=93963) (don't hate me it's a 32GTR)

Thanks for that Ronin 09,

As a matter of fact, I agree with you that the normal headlight housing wasnt ideal for HID's. But, I find after fitting my car with HID's found that i get a lot better lighting than i did before. Also I can see where your saying minimal leakage above the cut-off line, But with a few supporters from OH, the HID's On Lux Euro and Lexus RX330 are the most Pain in the arse systems that come factory fitted. Cars like Legend (98 Onwards) and Lexus GS300 Have facorty Fitted HID's with reflectors not Projectors, and i can handle them alot better than the Euro.

Just my 2 cents Worth.

i'm very intrested in having a HID conversion on my std euro (and yes.... .i know is illegal without those auto levelling and washer things, but hey, look how many cars have over sized rims these days).

anyways, i was just wondering if anyone knows a good place in sydney that does a good job?

and which brand is good and which is bad?

Thanks
