Civic Help!!! - small box?

ok i undid my front bar to do a CAI on the car. Now i noticed a box 10cm x 5cm x 3 cm mounted funny on the front. I thought i would remount it back later. It has one wire going to it. the wire have 3 types of pin on it. 2 male and 1 female pin. Looks like the old kettle plug but not as big.
Now can someone tell me what it is? also where does the plug go cos i can't see anywhere to plug it in???

Does it say Honda Motor Co. on it? Might be the magic black box, I've noticed a few Honda's that have a "box".

hmm but i couldn't find where it plugs in its wried cos the cable is not that long.

I though it might be the air bag or something to do with the abs but i can't find where to plug it.

doesnt look standard
possibly left overs from an old alarm or somthing
and if it wasnt plugged in anywhere and there are no wires just chuck it!
open it up see whats inside

Well it has a plug so it must go somewhere, unless like you said it is some unknown fitting

that's the problem i'm not sure. I'm scared it is my airbag sensor.

Anyone know where that sensor is or what it looks like?

from what i know it aint look like an air bag sensor
they are usally in the cabin in the center console or behind the dash
does your SRS light come on when your car is on reds (pre ignition)
and then turn off once the car is started
if this is right its all good and not air bag related
if the light doesnt come on or stays on you got your self a problem

also if i where air bag related it will have a sticker with a bar code on it
and for safelty reasons the wireing is allways coverd with yellow condute and tape to stand out from other wires

so you can rule that out then

yeah i been told that there is yellow tape on airbag related items so that you don' t actually touch it.

1) this one was bolted in a dodgy way (almost falling off)
2) the plug looks like nothing of Honda i have seen

So i tested your theory and the car runs fine without it. More junk to get rid of.

yeah i just took it off, no side-affects so far. :cool:

If it was behind your bumper it almost sounds like it’s the resonator for the air box, but not sure why it’s got wires hanging out of it.
Oh well now you have pulled it off bust it open and let us know whats in it?

nah wasn't the reasonator i'm sure of that cos i took that out already
