Does anybody know why my petrol meter is constantly going crazy? By crazy i mean it keeps giving the wrong readings... for eg. i know my petrol should be only around a quarter tank but it reads full tank. and sometimes i just filled a full tank and it reads below a quarter. Anybody come across this before? anybody know what the problem is?

you have to remove it from the tank, test and replace it if it proves faulty.

this means you have to find the access cover to the fuel pump/sender. from memory its under a metal plate in the boot just behind the the back seat under the boot carpet.

you need to test the sender's resistance in 4 places

nahz... i know what u mean but this is when just driving normally. i think ecu-man is right. must be the fuel sender.

My fuel guage is not working properly either. Its going up and down, full to 1/4 left..

If it is the fuel sender thingie, how much are these worth + fitted by honda?

or is it an easy job?

Change the thing in the fuel tank, the floater, i think dats what i called. I changed mine. coz it happens with mine as well b4.

I got it of the whreckers .. cost me about 50 bucks as i rememberd..

DIY would be good idea since its a easy job. just to open the cover which is located. at the boot. save u quiet abit of labour works ;p

Oh my god! Yesss! I thought I was the only one.

I have a 94' and I can drive for ages after filling up before it registers, sometimes not even until I start it up again.

I've been meaning to fix that.....

my gauge drops normally but hits empty and sits on the 'e' from about 400km onwards and i know its got a range of at least 600kms... my fuel warning light isnt operating either my im hoping thats jus the bulb. in any case i cbf fiddling around with it jus yet as its all nearly working :) fuel sender seems to be a common early cd5 tech fault tho... :( even hondas arent perfect ;)

My 95 accord does something simalar when i fill up it the meter only goes to about 1/2 a tank then will get down to a quarter and then stay there.
