i was screwing the bolt to the 'hood' but it came loose... the bolt came off with the metal bits from the hood. now i cant screw the hood anymore.. i think i need to redrill the hole...??

any ideas how to fix the hood?? if so where to go? and how much?

thx

are you saying you cross threaded and stuffed the hole?
so there if no longer a solid thread to grab onto in the bonnet???
a pic would help?
you can retap / rethread the hole quite easy if you have a tap set
if not can you get a bolt on the other side???
what part of the hood it this on?

you can drill it out and then replace the thread with a helicoil

thlike ecu man said helicoil, but it expensive, ur better off tapping the damn thing if, the inside is not damaged 2 much. other option is use a longer bolt and hope u still got good tread deeper down.

i managed to used the longer bolt.. i had to use more washers so the bolt wont hit the hood... its kinda ok i guess.. (for the lifted hood with washers, for airflow) but safety wise, hmm not sure?? in case of crash might hit my face haha :P

thx guys for the input... thank god the inside is not very deep, i think i still got 40%- 50% tread... u reckon is safe? thx ppl :)

if your worried about saftey, if its not 100% then its not good enough
