no the rubber plug thing is an air vent valve. I did a DIY input shaft bearing change and that kind of shows you how to change the gearbox fluid. I drained the fluid first via the drain bolt.

Then took off the fill bolt but filled it via the VSS (Vehicle speend sensor) until oil came out of the fill bolt. I found it easier to fill via the VSS than the fill bolt.

you will see two bolts under the car
one is just the socket drive on the botom on the box and one is a 17mm i think up higher about 10 cm's apart

VSS is on the top back side of the tranny. There should be a green or brown plug on it. The input shaft bearing is on the inside of the tranny not an easy fix for someone who doesn't know trannys. The bearing keeps the input shaft spinning freely and aligned. You will know when it goes bad by a bad whine and a vibration. I'll upload some Alldata pics to my forum and link it here (http://www.strathlan.com/TEK/viewtopic.php?p=261#261). I didn't want to post/upload stuff here as space is valuable and I don't pay for mine at this forum!

make sure you can unscrew the fill up bolt before you drain the thing, because if you find that you cant get the fill up bolt undone and the oil is being drained, then your up la shite creek.

If you cant get the fill bolt off (which has happened to me b4) and the gearbox has already been drained :) just look up how much it gb fluid needs to go into the gb and fill it where the VSS is :D

I just happen to have a picture of my box handy
can you now see the 17mm socket middle to the left thats the filler and the drain bolt is at the bottom middel it takes a ratchet drive
That big hole is were the dirve shaft normally goes so dont worry about that
