EM1 Vs Ek4 Coupes

Hi guys

Just trying to determine what the differances are between these, ive read several threads but none pin point what i need to know,

From what ive read.

EM1 is 99-00 Coupe
EK4 is 96-98 Coupe

I need to know wether the following parts are the same.

Headlights,
Door Mirror housing,
Front bar grille, ( i know the actual bar is differant and that u can buy the lip)
Side Skirts,

Also

Ive learnt that the sedan and hatch are EK1 will the guard and headlight of these fit onto a EM1.

Lastly are all airboxes the same. i.e. EK1 EKE and EM1

EK4 96-98 was not a coupe....... it was a hatch.


From this list....
Headlights,

The only thing that is the same and will fit is the door mirror housing.

No such thing as a EK4 coupe. EK4 is a hatchback
The coupes during 96-98 is EJ8. They are very different to the EM1s with different tailights and engine.

96-98 coupe is an EJ8 and it didnt have the b16a engine as the later model coupe did (EM1) 99-00. The EM1 also had a better looking frontend on it.

EK4 is the Hatch w/ b16a.. (VTiR)

Im guessing you have an EJ8 and wanna facelift the front to a 99-00 model?

Anything but, ok heres the deal i bought a damaged EM1 2000 model, and im trying to source some parts, i know its going to be hard(unless i buy new) so i want to see what other parts fit onto it, i know most hondas parts are pretty much the same.

Ok basically you can use front end parts from 99-00 hatches and sedans. The side skirts your going to have to source from a coupe (unsure if 96-98 will fit but appears similar)

Just want to clarify one thing, irrespective if its a GLI Sedan or VTI are the front bars the same? and the only differance is the lower lip? i woul dhave thought they would have differentiated between VTIR bars and GLI

All 99-00 front ends are exactly the same. The lower lip will bolt onto any 99-00 front ends.

The sedan grill is slightly different but it will still fit. Sedans have a chrome surround instead of the painted surround on the hatch and coupes.

your more likely to find hatch/sedan parts rather than coupe parts.. they are less common than the hatch's/sedans.

I was a little worried when i was buying it that i will have trouble sourcing the parts, but now it should be much easier, as u all have mentioned ill just grab any 99-00 front end parts :)

I was in Sydney when i bought it bidded over the phone, so i havent physically seen it yet it should be here next week, only 3 more sleep less nights to go before it arrives!

yeah if u get the 99-00 sedan bumper u would also need the lights as fenders..(correct me if im wrong)

with the sedan front bumper u would need a completly new em1 grille and front lip.

all the boxes are the same with differenet size tubing for different engines.

Just looking at your pictures you are going to also need..

Radiator support
Bumper support + foam insert
Bonnet

I guess you could fix the bonnet, depends how bad the damage is, cant really tell whether its worth fixing in your pictures. You might also want to check the chassis rail, just to make sure it hasnt been pulled in slightly. I wouldnt imagine that it has, but it is all joined with the radiator support and it could have pulled in a tiny amount.
