hey all,

does anyone know what the ride height between the guard and the wheel is supposed to be for the front and back of the accords.. i have a 94 model, and it looks like a 4WD.. its depressing to look at and every other accord stock still seems to sit lower than mine at the front..

was just wondering if anyone has pics of their rides stock so i can compare or even if they know the measurements theirs are..

i will take pics of mine soon and post it so u can see how depressed i am.. LOL

thanks :)

lol i think all 5th gen Accords have a higher front end... im not sure on the measurements, but i heard some ppl swap their back springs to the front and their front to their backs to lower their fronts... im not sure on this... ive only heard about it, but havent seen it. But yeah my Accord sits high up aswell and its depressing if you stare at it... or your parked next to a lowered car lol

What I noticed is that my front tyres are smaller than my back tyres, that could be a element adding to the fact that it looks higher at the front
e.g.
my accord before was way 4wd
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/8813/ricohighaccord2bt.jpg

solution:
Adding 40kg weights at the front and back to give the car that more lowered look
e.g. my accord now
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/8522/ricoaccordv21on.jpg

nah just jokin, if you rekon your accord looks depressing get it dropped, I got my dumped 3.5" on kmacs and it looks ALOT different than it did before.

also to add

u cant swap accord springs front to back - back to front

fronts are smaller than the rears :D

Haha, I remember my accord at stock height. I swear I could fit my head in the gap in the front.

Nothing a set of springs can't fix.

And you will find that every accord can be slightly different height, but close. Could have different OEM replacement shocks/springs etc.

yeah i no i no.. its a big difference, like with mine i can fit my fist comfortably in sideways so my pinky is on the tyre and thumb touching the guard (on the back) and with the front it seems i could fit a fist and still have room to spare.. lol.. i could cry sometimes, i just thought that perhaps my car may be raised a little higher for stock, cause also i have seen other stock ride height accords and they still seem lower than mine..

u dun juts swap ur front and rear springs.. they r diff spring rates... that has got to be the worst way to lower the front... shocking

Cars dropped approx 1.9" or 45mm. Left me with a 4cm (2 1/2 finger) gap.

Daily driver with 2 kids.

Using lovells and still running stock shocks....been lowered for two years now. My stockers must have been quite new when I picked up the car, no sagging, no bottoming out, not bumpy. No complaints.

Hey there, this is the ride height ive got from my car...To be honest, i dont know exactly what suspension is in there, I was told that is was pedders springs and shocks...I have had a peak up wheel arch, and it does seem to be right...

I also can't really comment on how this suspension handles, as i don't exactly have anything to compare it too...by that i mean i bought the car with this suspension, so i can't compare it to stock...Ive also owned a datsun 1600 that felt like it was on rails, so it isnt the stiffest of suspensions, but it does take corners surprisingly well for a large car.

Anyway, below ive added some pics of the ride height ive got from this "pedders" suspension. As you might have read, i am getting tein Coilovers, so i am presuming in the next few weeks, the suspension from this now will be for sale...so if you like this ride height...send me a message in a few weeks or so ;)

W00, first pics of my car ive added onto the forum btw...w00t

Looks good. :) Back is LOW, front looks about the same as mine.

Can't wait to see what it's going to look like with the Tiens.

Yeah i cant wait for the Tein either...I think the difference the tiens will bring will be that the front will actually be low...I'll throw up a photoshop of what i expect it all to look like...

IMO i think king springs are crap. i remember, my first accord was high as a mofo so i got kings for it but when i fitted them and dropped it off the jack, the car only dropped an inch. at least the kings neatened the cars look i guess, the 5th gens are just way too high.
after i had the king springs for a while i bought some ebay coilover sleeves that slide over the shock and they did the job perfect.

here is some pics of my first accord on king springs,

I agree j-spec, kings are crap...at least fort he 5th gen. Had a set for six months, couldn't stand the front being higher than the back.

Nice setup on the coilovers, not sure about the ivtec badge:)

I'm getting coilovers on my next honda, not spending any more $$ on my car now. Need something bigger, mmmmm UA5 Honda Inspire (hopefully type-s). 3.2l V6, 265HP.:D

jspec...love the accord mate...Your new one i like even more...and it has just proven to me that those taillights will actually look good on a dark car.

Also..WOW on the ride height...i love it...lol...But a few questions...can you detail a little on what is consisting of the suspension...i a little weary of sleeves...Having seen that ride height makes me think twice about the teins...although im not sure...sleeves vs. teins...

Are you running sleeves on the new ride too? Would you reccomend them over true coilovers...Would you suggest em?

j-specAccord
08-01-2006, 03:03 PM
i wouldn suggest the sleeves if you are considering cornering performance.
the sleeves IMO work a hell of a lot better than any springs ive driven, they stiffen up the ride alot. they give the feel and stiffness of real coilovers and handle very well. i would suggest real coilovers as nothing can beat the real thing but sleeves are a very good substitute (cheap and height adjustable 0-4inches)
they are alot of fun, you can raise and lower the car in about 10mins and the lowest point is crazy (lower than some brand coilovers)
my new setup is koni shocks and ground force sleeves, this works just as good. and im able to hit twisties high speed with ease.
fitting them can be a bitch if you havent done it b4, my first attempt i put them on upside down. it wasnt until i drove round and it made an awful clunking noise that i realised it...

ok...i'll stay with the teins...its just that ride height is very hot...

my cd5 runs kings , second try at it though ... first used lowered front cd5 springs but they were still too high with 18" wheels
now using a set of lowered ca4 or ca5 (3rd generation accord)which has brought it down further ... rears are lowered cd5 kings
(with the extra 75kg I have of stereo in the boot it brings the rear down nicely
low enough to keep me happy but not too low to attract the attention of the transport department and police ....
would love to use coilovers but it's hard enough to get into my driveway now :) - I have to drive in sideways :thumbdwn:

Im sure there is better alternatives to king springs but for what they cost they are a good comprimise between comfort and handling. I run kings and have for over a year and i consider them to be a very practical and make the car sit so much nicer than stock.

I had my car on a 60mm drop for a 4 weeks with a set of lowered king springs and while it made the car look horn, the handling and ride went straight out the window...,maybe im getting old but i hate feeling evry bump and bracing myself in anticipation for dips and ruts in the road.

One day when im rich im going to fit koni's and eibach springs.

Thats the way they are. Mine used to be like that too. But remember though, that you have subs and a boot install in the back adding heaps of weight. Thats why your rear is sitting lower than usual.

Oh yeah, and don't get compressed springs. I had some and as mentioned before, the ride is crap.

94_Accord
19-01-2006, 04:34 PM
nah i no i wouldnt compress the springs.. i dont want my ride being real stiff.. but yeh i guess seeing that the rear springs have prob sagged due to the system, it makes the front look a lot worse than it is..

but dont get me wrong, the front still looks terrible and something must be done.. lol
