Well this should be an interesting one! This is the first formula one race at the brand spanking new Bahrain racing complex!
Being in the middle of the desert, the main issues are the heat (which at the moment isnt soo bad) and the sand.
The sand could have huge effects, as it could drastically reduce the grip while increasing the wear on the tyres! It may also play havock if injested into engines or bearings etc etc.
The teams are also yet to test here, so, unlike the other tracks, the teams will be starting from scratch (ok - truth is they can pretty much replicate the track without setting foot at the circuit....but not exactly...so it should still be very interesting).

Enjoy guys....hope BAR can get both cars to finish in the points....hopefully another podium! We should have a huge advantage having Anthony Davidson in the third car in practice (being the top team allowed this privelege).

Question: (Paolo Ianieri - La Gazzetta dello Sport) Juan Pablo, from what we have seen do you think it can be a race between Ferrari and Williams this weekend?
Juan Pablo Montoya: Well, you have got to say that a lot of Michelin teams have been quite strong here - BAR have been quite strong, McLaren have been strong too - so we will see....
BAR is being recognised  ...hope we can get another podium this w/e!

I think you will find that the times will drop alot during the race!
Remember the 1 engine rule...
Being at a track that they have never been to before, they would be taking it easy!
I think Ferrari pushed hard on Friday and backed off on saturday!
And i think alot of teams either went hard on friday and soft saturday or vise versa!
Anthony Davidson is a good driver, i hope Sato gets booted and he takes the drive for the rest of the year!
Qualifying will be interesting to see, i wish Australia showed it, but TEN being cockheads they won't :x
I honestly think that it might be a Ferrari 1-2 because of the reliability factor!
Kimi will be 3rd where as Juan and Alonso will have blown engines!
But it is F1 and anything can happen!
Should be a good, interesting race!

Go Michael...
Ferrari, BMW and BAR both did really well...
Poor Kimi starting from back row :( Guy can't get a break...
He should go to another team!
Also, Alonso is way back to!
But he usually goes hard at the start and recovers about 12 positions!

Yeh its quite funny seeing the grid:
Ferraris fill the front row, Williams both in the second row and BAR holds out the third row!
I too feel bad for the iceman…..last year I would have said he is still a chance for this race….but in the current uncompetitive car, id say he will struggle to get any meaningful points without serious attrition.
From www.f1live.com: Fernando Alonso missed the apex of the first corner of his qualifying lap, owing to a currently-unidentified brake problem. In spite of a relatively competitive second sector, he had already lost almost a second, and the lap was definitively spoiled when he ran wide in turn 14. He will start from seventeenth position.
….we’ll see wot alonso can do…
I cant decide whether to watch the live timing….and then watch the delayed race….or just watch the delayed race without spoiling it by watching the timing…..dilemmas dilemmas….

That was an awesome race! Despite the red blurrs, the race was very close....heaps of overtaking!!
The way Sato fended off alonso....and just generally the way he drove was awesome! He has proven himself to be very quick and consistent under pressure.....if he hadnt of damaged his front wing he may have had a very close battle with his teamate! He was excellent in both attacking and defensive driving
Then of course is jenson!...his first two podiums have come at once! He drove an excellent race too.....he was just solid
A couple of things i thought id mention-
firstly, our pit stops were slow. It didnt look like we were fueling the whole time....they were slow (by 1-2 seconds). Hopefully the team will work on that a little.
Also, that was the second time the little peice on top of sato's rear wing has come loose! ....wouldnt the team have solved that problem by now??
All in all a great race from BAR team....but the best thing is that there should still be some improvement left....we are (pretty much) on equal terms with renault and williams....obviously ferrari is too far ahead (or was that bridgestone???) ......at this rate we could claim second place outright....this should be a very interesting season yet!!!
cheers,
mike.

Track was great.
Nice and wide, smooth but needs abit more rubber on it...
Well done to michael and rubens!

Well done to BAR, very solid race. And despite the fact I think he's an absolute wanker, Montoya was unlucky that his gearbox started to play up when he was virtually assured of 3rd.

Hi all. Im not a BAR Honda fan first up, but I aways like to see the underdogs pull up. I am very annoyed at what happened to Montoya, disappointing yet again, the frustration of losing the podium towards the end of the race is a shocker, hopefully Juan will get up there next race. As for Klein, yeah he did keep Kimi occupied but his inexperience really showed in his line, he tried the inside too much hence pushing too deep, also the lack of acceleration of the Jaguar out of the corners in contrast to the mclaren really showed. I was impressed with te track and thought it was well designed. The bloody ferrari onslaught continues yet again hey.... its so early in the season yet the gap is becoming large, im just hoping schumacher's car cathes on fire like it did last season or something. hehehehe

kinda like sato in malaysia, almost a 5th and then engine cooked :(
go BAR, i think BAR have enough to take 2nd overall constructors
Honda's made a good start to 2004 F1 season.
Let's not get carried away tho, still a LOONG way to go before we start talkin about constructor's championship points etc..
As for McLaren - big big issues.
I wonder what JPM is thinking!

Juan would be thinking FUK! I hope they fix the stupid car!
But the season is young!
I hope Ralf gets suspended for a while!
He moves in the last 2 GP’s were fuking ridiculous
Exactly..hence the reason why Honda aren't getting too carried away.
McLaren will be amongst the top 3 again this year.
Champions always shine thru..
