hey not sure if in right section
mods feel free to move thread if i am thanks

i got 96 teg gsi...... with what i think is the stock battery.... i have some white powder build up from the + terminal just wondering if this is a big problem? would it result in the car battery going flatter faster than usual and is the only way to fix this buying a new battery

white poweder is build up of the sulfuric acid, when the alt is charging the batt, the sulfuric acid, over flows, this is because the expanding ions, gets "happy" when it is being charged, thus over flows thru the little hole in the caps.
this is not a problem it happens quite often but try not to .
jus get a screwdriver and get rid of it.

Small amount of very hot water, will release most of it... :D

Bicarbonate Soda will eat that right up quicker than a 2 dolla hooker going down.

make sure you do not get any in the battery

alright i didn't think it was to much to deal with but i thought i beetta check just to make sure i only kno more wiring stuff realli thanks for help
