Sillly DC2 Question... little plastic box on steering wheel?

This has most likely been answered before, but no searches came up with any answers.. so alas i have to ask.

What is the little black plastic box/cover attached to my DC2 Steering wheel? It is something to do with the SRS air-bag?

I think your talking about the srs access cover to the connector

lol you're kidding right? It's already been answered that it's to do with the SRS airbag (which is what i suspected in the first place)

My DC2 doesn't have cruise control, didnt think the pre 1997 ones did?

i always thought it was a box u remove so u can add the cruise control buttons in which may of been an option in US or jap markets
since we have no cruise they block them up with a box..?
just like the spare button/switch spaces we have on our dashes
