Not really bothering me atm but just thought I would get some feedback.....

Ok here's one for you..... ever since I got the PFC installed and tuned in the car, we have got a "popping" sound at idle only. Doesn't matter if car is warm or cold. Its a really strange pop cause it actually sounds like a loud "Boing" sound you would hear in cartoons. The pops are also not consistant in time. Sometimes there will be a single pop spaced out say every 5-10 secs and other times there will be 2-3 pops that occur in rapid succession straight after the other.

We have got used to it now but would like to know what it could also possibly be. Tuner here in Bris could not figure out what it was and didn't really show much interest in figuring out what it could be . I must make a trip down south to get it tuned by someone that actually gives a rats about N/A cars.

One other thing there was and still is some intermittent issues with hunting idle since the PFC went in also. Can't seem to figure out if it was a result of a combination of other ancilaries like A/C and lights on or not. Tuner I think band aided the hunting idle by adjusting the idle RPM... when warmed up it idles at 900-1000 from memory. Nothing to write home about I guess since its only 200 odd rpm from the usual 750. The hunting will also occur regardless of being cold or warm. When it does hunt, it bounces between 1400 to around 500, just constantly and quickly between the two.

Initially I thought it was occuring when A/C & lights where on and questioned if it may have been a voltage problem *shruggs*

Anyway.... any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Speedy.

speedcore, the popping is the iacv as i previously told u.

the hunting can be a few things:
- poor tune at idle
- the iacv
- combo of both iacv and a poor tune

and stock cars idle at 850 on msot aftermarket ecus

Forgot to mention that pornstar had tried to help me previously about 6 months ago but I accidently erased your PM and didn't want to bother you again man. Champ I have forgotten what we talked about... I've been busy with work and organising to build a house.

You think I should start with pulling it off and giving it a clean and see if that makes a difference?

its not the clean adrian, its a matter of how the iacv is controlled on hondas.

its a long explanation, and for fear of being attacked for helping someone who doesnt own hondata or proecu, u can pm me again or call me mate :)

lol, read your post and my head is shouting IACV loudly!

even extreme VAFC adjustments (ie to compensate for larger injectors) can make it go *boing* (actually sounds like a *grongh* noise on my car, but is probably due to having a stock intake box)

regarding the Hunt, have you calibrated your TPS? minute changes in this sensor can also cause a idle hunt...
