Living in darwin has its limits on where to get your car modified..
Soo i ask a Noob question - Must i have my car tuned if i were 2 chuck on a turbo kit??
Having turbo kick in at say 3,500 rpm.....but.... then V-Tec at 5,500 - is that ok?? or must i change my ECU??
cheers bernie

Will require an ECU and big ass tune to get it all working nicely..
and yes spool + vtec does exist :p

yup yup yup, searchies!
DC5 turbs is crazy, been for a spin in a supercharged one, is nuts but turbs has way more potential and is just as reliable if tuned properly.
On a hijacking note, has anyone noticed the overwhelming amount of Force fed type r's popping up on carsales lately?!?
It might even be worth selling your car and buying one thats already been done, might save a few $$$$$$!
Benny.
it's VTEC not v-tec...
v-tec is a phone company
with turbo, you must get a new ecu
with new ecu, you must get it tuned

tuning and ecu is cheap compared to doing a proper turbo job...
depends on what ecu you go with
ranging from $400 to $4000 for ecu

why for sale man? you spent a packet on this thing.. how does the power feel as far as getting it to the ground and hows your gearbox going?

you could get a crappy bolt on kit say from an AVO type workshop, then you could go custom and spend $20k. What sort of gains are you after??? Not sure about DC5 but DC2 rods are only good for 300hp i would figure about the same for DC5 but am not 100% so you need to find this out. It will cost you about 4-500 everytime you have it tuned. Best place to start is sorting out what you want from the car and how much money you prepared to pay then phone a few places that are reputable see what they would do for how much, it may even sending your car interstate.
hope this gives you a starting point pm me if you want a few names that i know of

powers great - a bit of wheel spin and torque steer never hurt no one...as far as gear box goes...its still there, no probs as such :)

my 2 cents.
turbo and vtec is awesum dun get me wrong but its better to either hav a straight turbo or vtec. turbo for straight line speed and vtec for twisties. trying to track a vtec turbo just fries tyres and doesnt aloow u to drive as hard therefore fun as u usually would. it spoils the whole nature of wat the car is designed for
keep dc5 na

True I've heard the kick is insane from a turbo type R but then practically, you buy a type R for the driving experience which is unlike those muscle head RWs and torquey AWDs.
Lol... a newb question you rekon' if the R got a turbo would the internals be relliable to run VTEC and turbo? I mean I don't think you could run anymore than 8psi.
ive heard max psi u can run it at is like 6psi to be safe.. thats on a type r tho

You should be able to do ti without a new ECU as far as im aware. Your will however need to remapp the current one. This is all well adn good but when things change as they invariably do when modding a car it has to be redone. You will also need someone whos knows what they are doing which the majoirty will say they do but actaully dont. The easiest way is to get a fully adjustable after market ECU. You could even install it now and alter/retune it after your turbo install if you like.

Wouldnt a supercharger more suited to a B18C? Shouldnt it keep the same characteristics of the car? But have more power on tap?

Supercharger is only for down low so thats going to make serious traction issues in such a light fwd car. They really are built to be NA. Best off improving internals instead of forced induction imho.
