does the window motors need brushes?

or is there another issue

Buy some graphite/carbon powder from Repco or Autobahn and pour some in the side rails. Good as new, well almost.

I tried silicone spray once but the windows bogged up really badly after a month.

cool ... so ur saying its a friction thing not a 'not enough power' thing!

yep due to weathering and wear'n'tear the windows become slow due to friction.

Speaking from experience, I highly recommend trying the carbon powder first - it works a treat on my car.

I tried silicon grease first, which actually worked better than Carbon power initially, but after a month, the grease gathered dirt and grime and dried up, and eventually the windows ceased up big time to the extent that it takes literally a minute for the window to rise. It took me weeks of cleaning the windows with detergent to rid of the silicon stuff.

Now I use Carbon powder once a month, and since its totally dry, there is no dirt buildup or anything. Top it up once a month and its all good :)
