Hi
I have a 99 civic cxi hatchback and am looking to uprade my brakes. I feel i could do with greater stopping power. Basically i just wanna get 2 nice slotted rotors for the front and get some performance brake pads. The rear has drums and im gunna leave them cus i dont feel like doing the conversion to disks anytime soon.

I wish to know if it is posible to use a slightly larger disk while using the stock calipers? Can the calipers be shifted out from the center so they grip further out from the centre of the larger disk for more stopping torque? The way i see it if the calipers griped in the same spot on a larger disk no extra stoping power is gained by the larger disk, only adding extra rotational weight.
Finally is there a model of car (integra etc.) that has larger disks that can be bolted straight on to the civic while still using the same calipers?
also im thinking of dba4000 slotted rotors any opionions?

Thankyou

AEM made a kit and can be found on Ebay that used your stock parts but a bigger rotor and different pads. I am sure you can find other manufactures but that's the one I can think of right now. For $700 USD you could just get a real up grade kit from Baer or Wilwood.

i did a search before i posted and yes there is heaps of stuff on civics and break upgrades but i couldnt find any info on using larger disks with the same calipers, or info on other cars with larger disks that fit.

mate.
do a search properly mate
i'll give u this info.
DC2 VTIR will fot your CXi civic.
also the EK4 (civic VTIR) brakes will fit your car.
fitting a same caliper on larger brake disc is possible u need adaptor plates/ hub adpator plates to fit em in.
but i woudlnt do this.
i'll rather get a full brake running gear from a DC2 or a EK4
