After carwash the other day, noticed a rattling sound coming from inside around my left door. Near the passenger recliner area to be more specific...

Only pops up at around 3500-4000 rpm which i assume means that its either mechanical, or something vibrating!

...its really starting to annoy the f*ck out of me...

Edit: Btw... whenever i use my alarm to get in the car every now and then, the door doesnt unlock properly... anybody have a cure for this? is it the motor or the cable that isnt unlocking it properly???

I have the exact same problem - it resonates at around 2500rpm though.

It could be a number of things, but its likely to be the door handle system. I find that when I lightly pull the handle while its rattling, the noise goes away.

Wouldnt have a clue how to fix it though since its a bastard trying to get into the door panel.

take off ur door trim and spray some sound deadner inside the panels, that should make them heavier and more resistant to vibration...

I think it is this thing for the speakers inside the door... will have a look at it when this shit weather clears up!!!

hey bro i have the same problem with my doors, remove your door trims there should be some metal rods that lead into a thing-a-ma-bob, there adjustable so just stuff around and ull finally get it. worked on my car sweet as.

nah man I super dont reccomend you do this unless you want to loose ALL functionality from your door locks and window winding assembly etc.

remove your door liner and wobble it around.. sounds to me like one of your wire/rods for your glass or door locks has come loose or one of it's plastic connectors has snapped. replace snapped bit and/or fit some soft foam to your wire/rods to stop them vibrating etc.

otherwise you've got to realise that EG's are ALL at least 10 year old cars now so you will get more and more rattles and squaks as the car gets older.

the vibratuion being only at a certain RPM is due to the resonant frequency of your exhaust.

thats the word i was looking for originally...

weather seems to be clearing up... so will take a look at it... suprisingly, im getting a rough interferance sound from that door speaker as well, so will take a closer look at the wires to see if there is any chaff causing the rattle...

will let you know... thanks for the help

Got the same problem, only mine starts at lower rpm.....i thought it was becoz my pipe is too big, so it vibrate against the sides of the exhaust place (dunno what to call it)

Na ive got the standard cat, its my Tuffy Muffler causing the havoc which is loudest at 2000-2500RPM.

Come to think of it, the cup holders also rattle at around 3500RPM, and something in the right pillar at 1500RPM, and the coins in the middle compartment at 4000RPM.

I'm wandering if a phatt exhaust is worth all the hassles...
