Kumho 712 Scores High In Tyre Survey
Kumho’s Ecsta Supra 712 tyre rated highly for tread wear in a consumer survey by United States tyre retailer The Tire Rack. Consumers also rated 712 amongst the top two tyres in dry traction, wet traction, hydro resistance, cornering stability and ride comfort categories.
MARCH 26, 2003
A value-for-money Korean-made tyre has beaten all but one competitor in a recent US survey of the world’s top high performance tyres.
The Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 finished second overall in a field of 37 ultra high performance tyres from brands including Dunlop, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Goodyear.
It topped the Bridgestone Potenza RE730, the Dunlop SP Sport 8000, and the Pirelli P7000 in the survey.
The Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 scored a 95 percent overall satisfaction rating in the consumer survey commissioned by leading US tyre retailer and on-line distributor, The Tire Rack.
Kumho 712 finished second in the dry traction, wet traction, hydro resistance, cornering stability, ride comfort and tread wear categories.
The high-performance tyre is available through 350 tyre retailers around Australia.
"The Kumho 712’s result in The Tire Track survey confirms our faith in its technological capabilities as a high performance proposition for sports drivers," said Steve Yeom, Kumho Tyre Australia national sales and marketing manager.
The Kumho 712 offers a high level of grip in all conditions, in addition to low wear-rate characteristics.
It features large lateral and centre tread channels to maximise the dispersal of water, ensuring optimal traction performance in difficult conditions.
The Kumho 712’s sophisticated, directional tread design offers superior acceleration, braking and cornering capabilities.
The tyre is constructed from the latest silica compound, which maximises tyre wear without compromising overall performance.
The Kumho 712 earned the Good Design (GD) Mark after it was selected as one of the Best Designed Products of 2000 in a competition co-organised by the Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Industrial Design Promotion.
The Kumho 712 is available in 55, 50, 45, 40, 35 and 30 series profiles and in H, V, Z and W speed-rated sizes for 14-inch to 20-inch wheel diameters.
It also features a Rotate Wear Indicator (RWI) to alert drivers when to rotate their tyres, and comes with a new rim protector design for alloy wheels.
For more information on the Kumho 712, call 1300 651 413 or visit www.kumho.com.au for your nearest Kumho tyre dealer.

I had them on my car when I bought it (2nd hand) - didn't have too much tread left - but they were OKish... would squeal when driven hard, but would still grip - they didn't let go too suddenly.
However, that said - with the tyres I have on now (Goodyear Revspec RS02's) - I can take corners considerably faster, with no tyre squeal - and - they grip a lot further than the 712's could handle.
Basically 712s = cheap, pretty average tyre... I wouldn't get them if really give your car heaps - your tyres are the #1 thing for your safety, dont skimp on them!

I had these on my car in 205/40/17
Most people I talked to that had these on their car didn't really like them grip wise.
I thought they gripped pretty well. I have bridgestone S-02 now and the Kumho's are not even close but for their price they are good. The only problem I had with them is the aqua-plane when you hit some puddles.
Over all they weren't bad for me

G3's are good tyres, value for money and for an everyday longer life tyre, they are good.

From what I've been told, the Revspec RS-02s are the replacement for the Eagle F1, supposedly they're no longer making them - or at least that's what I was told...- I managed to get the Revspecs for I think, 210ea in 205/50/R16, and 300ea in 225/45/R17.
They're an excellent tyre - need a little wearing in before they become really sticky (be careful in the wet the first few days, but I suppose same for all tyres...), once worn in tho - they're sweet as
