Hey guys I just ordered some 17" rims from the net, now I have a choice of two tyre sizes and I have no idea which one I should go for.
The size of the rims are 17" and 7inches wide, and the choice of tyres are 205-40-17 or 215-45-17
Could someone help me on which one is better/looks better etc, thanks.

It really depends on what you think looks better. Also what you should be looking at is the difference that the wheels are going to make to your speedo. I have just put 17x7 with 205/40-17 on my car and they look nice, but they where the closest (% wise) to my stock rims. It has put the speedo out just over 3kmh.

I had the same choice and went with the 205/40-17.

It refers to the wall thickness of the tyre. The smaller the number the thinner the tyre.

Ok, first you dont just change tyres based on what you think looks cool. You do it based on what your cars speedo is tuned for. Find out what your stock tyres are and compare it to both those sizes. Choose the size that suits best to keep the speedo accurate.

And, to quickly explain tyre numbers. 215/40/17 is width in mm/profile(sidewall is a % of width, so 40 profile means the sidewall is 215x0.4mm tall)/wheel diameter it fits on
