hey all. not sure if this thread belongs here but i just had a simple question. went for pink slip today and got knocked back on account of the muffler falling to bits which i didn't know about. will cost me about $190 to get a new standard one fitted but i was planning on getting something with a bit of grunt put on in the future so i might as well see about getting a bigger system put on now instead of the standard one? i'm not sure how much bigger systems cost though..? any tips?

i know this is a slight hijack..

but how much do cats and catbacks go for on average from an exhaust shop.. both mild steel and SS? Just wondering if this would be the go or spend 850 on a 2nd hand jap thing

just wondering would having a bigger system effect you getting a pink slip in anyway??... like does everything have to be approved by whoever and stuff like that??

as long as u still have a cat connected and it meets emissions and noise ur fine. u can get a bit of paper from the exaust place which says how many db's at the required rev's ur car does which can help.

I'm thinking of getting a new exaust and if u want performance improvements rather than just looks and sound u need to do the entire exaust, including headers but that's more expensive again.

I paid $200 for my metal biscuit(not ceramic)
$100 for the muffler, $50 for a resonator,
About $150 for my mandrel bends + straight pipe,
Couple of hours labour to weld up.

Results are awesome though...

I would expect to pay around $400 for a decent exhaust system, I sorta went overboard.
