View Full Version : HELP Rad Fans stopped -wheres the Elec fan switch EG5

Hi guys
My car overheated today stuck in trafic coze my Rad fans have stopped kicking in
So where's the Elec Fan switch on my EG5 D16Y1 so I can short it out so the fans run the whole time so i can drive out to Hannys go get it fixed
Heres two pics, witch one wire is it

So is it the one near the headers (Top pic) or the one just behind the engine
I was told its the one ledding off the hose for the Rad but both are doing that lol

Im asuming the bottom pic too, mine is actually screwed into the bottom of the radiator.
Try and see if that works, because there should be ignition power going straight to the fan and the negitive is controlled by the switch. (on mine anyway) so yeah hoping the positive is there. Also check all your fuses, and yeah hoping its just not the fan seized up.

replace the thermo stat

Brand new thermostat is mes thinks it must be the switch
Done
Fans now on the whole time :)
I just got my engine rebuilt so i hope I haven't done any damage :rolleyes:

what is ECT ??
i thought that was the thermoswitch coz i had coolant marks on that ..
any help appreciated.

i thought that was wat the thermo switch was for ... it reads the temp of coolant and turns on the fan ...
oh well guess i was wrong...
i didnt realise that eg had PGMFI either .. thanks heaps ECU MAN. :wave:

no probs
any Honda EFI is called PGMFI
there are thre coolant sensors in a EFI EG
the one for the PGMFI, varable resistor type ECT
the one that triggers the thermo fans, on off type
the one that controls the temp gauge, varable resistor type. single wire one

All fixed now :)
Hannys installed a new Elec switch for free at my 1000K free service after my rebuild and on damage that they could find :thumbsup:
