Had a great day down at the Castle Hill Exhaust Dynoday today... shit temp though!

In shootout mode, pulled a 121.2hp@7400rpm with v-tec not engaging (cold-oil)...
...then a 130.0hp@7400rpm on the 2nd run... feels good getting 100kw/afw!

A/F ratios are a little pingy, but good, and nothing a VAFC-II shouldnt fix. My only mods are X-force Extractors + Mandrel Bent Exhaust, still had resonator & all... didnt get time to take it off or get CAI piping set up though...

Also down there were a few clubmans with F20C's & SRS02K's turbo s2000, getting a nice ***n run! Ohhh what a crazy sound!

Will post up pics tomorrow when scanned... Anybody else have any dyno sheets on here for B16a's/CRX's???

on the other printout (at home - on back of door), got dale to get me a torque printout as well... or a rpm which didnt get around to...

Will get pic up tomorrow of the AFR dyno print...

Edit: yep, 96.94 was best (2nd) of 2 runs

not abad run.

btw it's VTEC not V-TEC.
it says VTEC on your rocker cover :p

A/F ratios are a little pingy

erm... what does this mean exactly?

Twincam16
23-01-2006, 02:15 PM
line wasnt smooth like i thought it would be, also had few jumps here and there, apparently because i had no intake to match the exhaust, and ecu was trying to adjust the a/f ratios on the go?

proecu, you sound skeptical... its my run, i wouldnt bother making this up if thats what you're thinking.

ProECU

no, not skeptical, those numbers you quoted are very reasonable.

I didnt understand what you meant by pingy as thats a term which used to describe detonation in the combustion chamber and doesnt usually refer the the a/f graph.

U rev'd you car past 7k with cold oil?

Twincam16
23-01-2006, 03:22 PM
Chi - I freaked out! didnt hear vtec kick in on first run, freaked and looked at the temp, was just above first line. Didnt hit me as the drive was very long there, and car was sitting in heat, however was switched-off for a few hours, usually stays hot for a while...

Heated it up quickly for next run though :(

ProECU - my bad, just couldnt think of a word to use for the graph line...

saw u there. i was there with a few starlet mates. 96~kw on that dyno is a good effort :)

this is mine when i got it dynoed at the middle of last year
its a bit low but then again it is a 92 and has 188k on the clock, only mods were chopped muffler and pod filter

Im guessing Brownster & 94Gi off the starlet forums? Still want to see the mini with the 4EFTE from his old car!

You should have come up and told me it was you, then I would have begged ya for a custom CAI! hahaha

Just scanned up the AFR sheet...

What you think of that afr line?

I think its pretty good to be honest.
When was the last time you replaced & gapped your spark plugs? This might help remove that sharp dip in your power curve which seems to be non specific to the a/f curve at that point.

Side note: It seems that variations in dyno O2 sensor gauge calibration and O2 placement in exhausts system is a key factor on this site when comparing dyno graphs.

Good result.

Sparks were checked the other day... they were perfectly fine, given a brush down on the electrode...

o2 sensors were chucked in just before the airbox, and on the exhaust tip.

Would there be anything that could be done now to complement the exhaust???
I've been wondering whether or not a CAI setup is worth it at all? People saying very small gains, only more response, and sound...

Would it be worth the money ($$$:kw) fitting a CAI in my case, then VAFC-II & maybe advance timing on a dyno-tune for a more kw?

U rev'd you car past 7k with cold oil?
Yeah speakin of which I thought the rev limiter kicked in earlier when the engine's cold.

a cold air intake doesnt cost that much, only if u go for injen or something like that anyway even with the injen piping its just stanless steel and heats up really hot when the engine has been on for a while. make a custom cold air intake using ur stock piping and air box, or just get a filter upgrade

Yes it does, 6580rpm Cold Rev Limit for the DelSol P30 ECU.

Good pickup

what would explain the no-vtec kicking in? It revved well past cold rev-cut on both runs... the car would have been on for only about a minute, including it getting strapped down

What is normal warm up time... I usually leave car on in morning for 2-3 mins... and never go above 4000 rpm for next 5mins...

Putting wide band o2 sensor at end of exhaust rather than pre-cat gives different readings as well I've been told.

What is a good a/f to aim for on vtec? I've only played with aftermarket ecus on turbocharged cars and always aim for around the mid 12:1 mark on boost to play it safe. What does vtec like?
