whats the most fuel efficient way to drive a jazz?
with the 7 speed mode on?
or just leave it on d?
how many kms is everyone getting driving like a tightass?

CVT is the most efficient... Just leave it to D and light on the foot.
No matter how granny you drive in a city start stop journey.. you will not much..
Drive on the freeway for a long trip.. I did 5.8L/100km on my heavy VTiS and, 400km and still have about half a tank to go...

i can get CVT by leaving it on D and driving granny style to as low as 4.8L/100km highway driving

using the 7 speed mode uses higher revs and ive noticed slightly more fuel

but when thrashing the jazz it takes the fuel consumption up to around 13L/100km

im still amazed by this little beast, for its size, price and features its great bang for your buck

at 160km/h on the highway the steering wheel barely shakes and i can still steer with one finger...thats tops!

You should clarify Pogi that the highway was of course in the Northern Territory.

But yes it is more stable at highway speed than the A Class.

^^yes sir thats true :) took it on a tour around aust with a mate ;)

its even smoother than my crv at similar speeds

i swear this little compact amazes me..maybe i should read the manual :D

Have you guys read the Honda Australia Nov/Dec '05 Issue magazine???

There is 3 or 4 page article where an elderly but more than capable 86(?)year old lady? who bought a flaming red Honda Jazz VTiS about a year ago and loves to drive - drives far. She has driven (mostly by herself) about 70,000kms in the Jazz in 12months, she loves it and wants to keep on going. She has drive around Australia 3 times!! AMAZING!

Anyway, apparently she averages about 6.0l/100kms!

Well in my experience, driving my Jazz at constant 75-80km/h I get 4.8-4.9litres/100kms. At a constant 100km, I get about 5.9l/100kms, and at constant 120km/hr I get about 6.9-7.0l/100kms.

Wife (CVT-7 VTi) was averaging 5.8L/100kms with stock wheels and tyres. But now its 6.8L/100 with 205/45R16 tyres.

i only seem to get about 8 to 8.6 around the city...

Economy doesn't pick up until after about 11,000km and larger wheels adversely effect it permanently.

oh..its strange theres not much of emergency fuel tank left...

i remember filling up my crv when it had 2 small notches left on the meter and those 2 small notches are 20 litres worth :( honda is manufacturing inconsistently

My Jazz GLi gets 6 to 7 about town but on a recent 200km trip up the coast and back I got 4.4 l/100km. Note that I use the higher octane fuel (BP Ultimate, Shell Optimax or Caltex Vortex)

Just got 4.2 L/100km over 200km highway trip in my Jazz GLi CVT :)

(Again using the higher octane fuel, without aircon going)

Manual cars eat a bit more fuel :( Unless I try really hard to drive like a granny.

I average 6-6.5L/100km for normal driving. Each gear shift is about 3000rpm

but CVT is use more fuel than MT, which is fact.

Here are some figures from Honda brochure.
1.3L Combined (litres/100km) 5.7Man/5.8Auto
1.5L Combined (litres/100km) 6.0Man/6.1Auto
0.1L more on CVT lol

I think on the open road a CVT Jazz could use less fuel that a manual because it is longer "geared". At 100 with no head wind and on level ground the CVT Jazz is ticking over at only 2000rpm, where as the manual is 1000rpm more. Also at 80kph cruising CVT is only 1800rpm and 1500rpm at 60kph. Its possible to drive a CVT Jazz (L15A) without using more that 2000rpm and still get around reasonably by using the CVT. Tough call, I have never driven a manual Jazz.

I get typically 5.0L/100 km, mainly highway 100kph on QLD SouthEast freeway, on a 1.3L GLi CVT, "D" mode only, light on accelerator, usually air-con off, windows slightly opened. At 100kph RPM is slightly above 2000 RPM. With such drive, I can get 600 km per tank full approximate, with 91RON. With 95RON I can get about 10% more in terms of distance.
