HONDA’S radical Civic hatch is back on the
agenda for release in Australia, however it could
be least 18 months before the vehicle is released
in this country.
Currently built exclusively in Swindon,
England, the hatchback is a version of the more
conservative UH-series Civic sedan (petrol and
hybrid) that makes its Australian debut at next
week’s Melbourne International Motor Show and
goes on sale soon after.
The hatch was created primarily for sale in
Europe, where it was deemed more popular
than the three-box two-door coupe and sedan
variants Honda has devised for North America
and Asia.
But since the hatchback’s unveiling in concept
car form at the Geneva motor show last March,
as well as its subsequent production-guise release
at the Frankfurt show six months later, there has
been demand from Honda outposts worldwide.
