I was thinking,
Would it be good to have linear springs in the back and progressive at the front? That way the car will turn in really well, and have heaps of front end grip because it'll be "soft" but then at the peak limits the front suspension will go harder and cause it to understeer rather than oversteer?

If anyone has driven a FWD car that at it's limits oversteers, they'll know how great it is driving it just before those limits. Is it possible to combine the best of both worlds?

true that.. soudns good..

But then having too much weight in the front would cause understeer...
Even at its peak when the front progressive springs hit full compression the front has already dipped..

This will also cause problems with hard braking... it would unsettle the back as the front dips too much..and with the lack of experience(ie.braking into a turn or mid corner), spells diaster.

Just a thought..

No offence or anything, but as a consumer dont you think it would be best to go with what is tried and tested?

If you were working a R&D lab at a spring company, I am sure that idea like this could be tested out, but i am just trying to let you know that you could be spending/wasting a lot of money trying to find things out which i think may have already been tried.

its sometimes more important to try things yourself and learning the concept and not buying claimed R&D stuff.

I can name u a load of stuff which has had R&D and have been shot in vehicles.
A good example is sway bars.

Check the below specs:

Koni RSK Suspension kit - 154-205/270 (Progrssive front/Linear rear)

And

97, 00-01 ITR - 250F/250R (Linear Front/Progressive rear)

SO who has done less R and D ??

All all about testint theories.. I know a load of people running unmatached front and rear springs with the rear being alot harder to get more swing..and they claim that to be best...

its all about innovation.
