Guys,

Just a question about removing the stock air filter box from a '90 Accord

There is a pipe leading from the air filter box

To another box of some sort shown here (the box seems to be driven by the suction from the air filter box..

This box is then connected via a lead

To the fuel injector

Now if the suction to the box pictured in the second picture is removed (when I take the stock air filter out) is it going to cause any problems to the fuel injector?

Cheers

i dun think that pipe actually goes into that box, its hard to tell from the photos.
usually there is a resinator kinda thing (jst piping that loops around i have no idea whats for my self) most people jst pull it out mate.

I cant see why there would be anything eletrical connected to it.

You dont understand how much I would just love to pull it out.. But being a perfectionist my father wants to know what it is, and why its connected to the fuel injector/carburetor before touching it..

Basically, the air filter is connected via a diaphragm to the vaccum box (which is pictured in the second picture) this vaccum box is subsequently connected by a lead (numbered 8) which loops around and connects to the fuel injector/carburetor...

If it didnt connect to the engine it would have been gone already, but my father wants to know why its connected to the engine, theres obviously some sort of reason? To provide extra suction for the vaccum box perhaps?

is this a carby? thats a coldstart injector. I dont know enough about carbys to comment on its function, but i know everything uses vac to work. its possible that it just needs a source of filtered, atmosphic air.

My mum has a 90 Accord, I haven't pulled the box out, but I've had a look around... I believe its actually a dual stage box, where the vacuum at higher RPMs opens another valve to bypass the resonator.. It should be safe to disconnect and plug.. And it looks to be the PGM-FI intake manifold too...
