get like :
-proformance cams better timing to your engine instant power
-ecu supposibily incresing power up to or by 10kw..
-exhuast .. your car breaths alot better .. that means like extractors headers hiflow cat
-or if u just want power @ the risk of ur engine turbo.. is the way to go.. best way to gain power

no i m actually with jack... i have the same d16y4 i know how it feels.. i think its a complete waste of $ to mod the engine... thats y i did not spend 1 single cent on engine mods. honestly if u want speed considered engine conversion or get a quicker car....
my 2 cents

not sure where u can purchase just a head.
they're not so commonly sold here as they are in the states.
but u can buy a complete engine and wiring harness and ecu for around $700 if your lucky.
that, as far as i can remember is all you'll need for a head swap.
ofcourse many will tell you to not bother with a head swap and just swap the whole engine but thats up to you.
If you know what you're doing, it can be done in a weekend with some mates.

Always has been my opinion, I had a gli and the cost to get anything decent out of it would be expensive, plus the actual power gain would be shit all.
Do a complete swap or buy something quick if it's power you want.

how is telling him to buy another car going to help him?
he want to know how he can get his current car/engine to go faster/quicker etc...
not how to buy a faster car.
u really shouldnt be gettin beaten by a lancer.. they do like wat high 16s? i thought a cxi would do mid 16s
well anyway invest in a full exhaust system (headers and exhaust) and u'l be sure to beat him

yer its power that i want but for MY car......
if u dun want to spend too much .. basic intake header ... cat back ... exhaust etc. ..... but dun forget the handling of the car... civic s r awsome at handling....

Any decent exhaust shop should be able to build you a good catback system. Alternatively you could purchase a brand name catback from one of the site traders.
Was just recently reading about a head swap (ie mini me swap) that seemed pretty cool and was completed for less than $500 US (from memory). I havent done much research into it but I do remember someone discussing the downsides to these sort of swaps. If you decided to take this route a local wrecker should be able to help you find the relevant parts.

appreciate it ladies and gents,
red civic is right, the car isnt fast to begin with and wont get much faster... and all that engine wirring is too complicated for me i hav no idea what that sh*t is. so its not worth stuffn around with and spending the cash on, but thnx newai tatah

i reckon just work on handling and race him around the track
start with a rear sway bar
i must agree with everyone saying it is bang for your buck

Just spend some money and get your civic looking hot, good audio and enjoy that if your holding onto it for a while. Try the Wanted to Buy section for those angel eyes too.
If not, save for something quick!
Cheers

what sort of lancer was it? 1.8L or the newer 2L one??
There's a lancer glxi with 1.8L engine but with upgraded internal (cam package from rpw) which done 14s.
I wish there's that kind of package for ek1s :(

but then again.. he was at a disadvantage being a 4 door gli with heayv power windows etc.. CXi should be way lighter.
he musta had some crazy stripped interior then.. or had more mods than he was telling ppl

it was a gli 1.8 ltr. one of me mates, oh and he a full 2 and 1/4 cut back exhaust

how are you getting beaten by a stock lancer, i got a ek1 aswell and i always get them by about 3 car lengths????
ek_ing
06-02-2006, 05:46 PM
do u hav any engine, ive only got a cold air intake.. and rest stock, his got a 1.8 landcer gli and a cut back exhaust ?.......... maybe its my drivn.... i just draggn

2 of my mates, one driving 03 gli (1.7L) and other 04 lancer ES (2L) both auto so no miss gear or anything and they raced. The gli slightly heavier since it's got power windows and 2 10" sub but both cars are standard no mod at all.
in the dry, es beat gli by 1/2 length but in the wet, it's the other way round.
cold air intake on cxi have very little effect unless you also change your exhaust, if you don't want hardcore mods (engine swap etc);
custom made mild steel 2" - 2.25" exhaust system (please no 2.5") should be around $300
X-FORCE extractor (quoted $450)
hi flow cat -> magnaflow cost around $275,
CAI with decent pod filter
Unichip $1250 supplied fitted and tuned
Should be able to run mid-high 15s.
Those are my opinions anyway

umm i doubt u'd get the 1.8 lancer by that much  mayb the 1.5 unless u got engine mods but if not then doubt it

just spray your rocker cover red for power
and calipers blue for braking power hehe
i'd think that a cxi civic and a lancer would be a good race... do a whole exhaust like your mates and then should be abit more even

now all this drag racing you guys are doing is down the strip of course

with the ful exhaust, cos ive got an axel back, and its already loud enoguh. would it be way to loud if il;ive it on?
