i have a jdm b16 and the check engine light is flashing two codes tcs (traction control ) and 02 sensor . MY car is running rich (blowing black smoke at high rev range ) would the o2 sensor be my problem , im sorry if this sounds like a stupid question .. is a new sensor expensive ?

if the ECU code says o2 sensor ~ why not check it out ? Check that its actually plugged in firmly first - then maybe find a mate with a simialr car and borrow his o2 sensor , reset ECU and see if yours is faulty. Otherwise fork out the cash.

i know that its fitted properly my mechanic checked it , my question is , Can the o2 sensor if faulty cause the motor to run rich ?

yes , yes it can - and if your ECU is giving that code i think you shoudl test it or buy another one -

you're either running a modified ECU or a JDM ECU looking for the TCS.
This is the reason for the TCS code. It can only be removed by changing the ECU to a AU P30 or similar, or have myself chip it.
Secondly, replace the O2 sensor.
PM me for further details if you require.

I read a lot... a skill todays generation seems to have lost.
secondly, ive been working with ECU's for over 7years.

just thinking about this some more, if its occuring in the high rev range, the ECU should be in open loop, (no O2 sensor input correction by the ECU).
Have you overfilled the engine oil level ?
In any case, you need to replace the O2 sensor.
I can also fix your TCS error.
