Door Zaps!

Hey guys. Any ideas of how to stop the stupid zaps u get from the door when getting out of the car. Mine are like so intense that u can like see it arc from the metal to my finger. Its really becoming annoying and im scared to open the doors lol

stop rubbing ur feet on the carpet beforehand lol.

Seriously , try to ground yourself to a metal part of the car before getting out if you can (a pillar etc)

hehe...same here....so i get the back of my hand (i'd say the least sensitive part) and do a quick touch then i'm set.

Get a static strip attached to the bottom of your car. Its a strip of rubber with a strip of metal that touches the grounds when the car comes to a stop. All gone! Dunno the cost but around $10 or less i would say.

how bout get one of those strips attach it to something like your seat rail or something around there so it can swivel but is attached to the chassis. When you stop flop it out before you get out then just chuck it back in beofre you close the door. :) dunno if they have low enough resistance or have a good enough contact to do it that quick.

id get a strip an attach to to under the centre of the car wont really been seen then.
But seriouly watch out while filling your tank ive seen when you fill up you should always touch the car body first to release the charge
cause if not you pick up the pump start to pump touch the car spark happens BOOM

i found that sitting on wool covered seats cause more static shocks..

Yaeh try your nipples, quite painful, but hey if that's what you like....... Happened to me once through my t-shirt and just about jumped out of my skin! Just make sure you are touching a metal part of the car as you step out and will be fine.

close the door by pushing the window, thats what my gf does, leaves dirty ugly fingerprints but she doesnt get shocked....

yeah i got that grounding piece of rubber in the middle of my car....u can't even see it unless u fully bend down n lay on the floor does the job awsomelyness!!

Lol thanks for the tips guys. I might put one of those strips in the middle of the car once i get my car lowered (which will be soon) so noone will actually notice. The nipple zap scares me tho :eek:

i get zapped ocassionally, when i get out of the car i touch something that is grounded and then i can close the door no probs.

my civic has always done it and it pisses me right off HAHA even when I shut the door then walk away - when i go to hold hands with my GF or anything she gets zapped (!!) and or I get zapped by her.

there must be a way of preventing this bad-earthing without an ugly earthing strip thingy dangling down..

the reason people put strips is cause its the smallest fault in the wiring nothing that would cause problems but would cost a fortune to find every join has to be cheaked aswell as the whole length of wire its on
also the correct voltage output for every wire has to be known an checked

I hold the metallic part of my car key
then zip my car first before opening the door.
u can see the sparks sometimes lol :D
