Hey guys, as many of you know you can upgrade your shift linkage on b16a2's to type r linkage for better shifts etc.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the linkage is compatible on b16a(1) engines which have cable clutch opposed to hyrdo clutch.

Anyone know if the linkage would work or if there is any difference's between gearboxes for A's and A2's?

Also how easy is it to install.. anyone wanna describe the steps?

Yeah it would work. The question is what car you putting it on? In your sig it says you have a EF8, which means that it would not work. Try hasport, as they have shift linkages that fit. The linkages are shorter on EF/ED's.

jsut out of curiousity, does anyone know why the type r linkage is a major improvement? is it the shortness of the shift. heavier linkage? or is it lighter?

cause they are almost exactly the same as std ek/eg/dc

The linkage is the same size, its just more solid, you get a better feel. The actual shifter makes a difference in the stroke, which is shorter with the type r one.

Ok.. so because i have an EF8 and it is a tiny car.. the linkages are smaller hence wont accept Type R linkages?

But they may work on other cars with b16a1's like integra Xsi's??

So hasport makes aftermarket one's for better feel? I know there are shift linkages sold for US EF's (i think) and i think ED's so that you can do a b16a conversion.. but do they have some for EF8's? (will check their site)

Sorry to highjack this thread...

What are the pros and cons of upgrading the shift linkage on a B16a2

the rods are thicker int he type R linkage

Don't know about the Integra. There linkage is longer than EF/ED ones, so I would be saying it would fit. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

Yeah, there shift linkage looked pretty thick, so I would be saying it would give a better feel. Also I would be saying the EF8/9 & ED converted shift linkages would be the same length. But once again, not 100% sure.

thanks slut..

bit of a shame i cant get the type r linkage happening..

if anyone knows on products to upgrade shift feel in EF's then post away

ITR linkages will only work on EG or DC chassis without modification.. the linkage may FIT on other chassis but it may not select gears properly and could even casue damage to synchros etc.

HASPORT linkages are just standard replica linkages as most front cuts have the linkage cut and they're fkn hard to find.

advantage of ITR linkages on a B16A2 ? well only one main advantage- the distance and precision of the ghearshift is raised to type R level rather than say EK4 - which is pretty much as sloppy as a D-series set of linkages.

the linkages are substantially thicker and more rigid than your original linkages..

but man please do a search as there's been HEAPS of threads on ITR linkages !!!

a thicker rod doesnt mean anything unless the std one flexes right?
so does the OEM ek4 one flex?

not that i know of
im thinking would the thickness contribute to the weight and firmer feel of the shift

coz its noticabley thicker
