i've got a few questions that neeed input from all of u:
1> the mileage on the odo was already showing 39km's on delivery day. do u think this is too high? (i know it's kinda too late now if i was to go back to complain)
2> there're lots of fine scratches around the driver door handle area. i told the SA abt it and he said he'll get it polished at 1000km service. anyone had this problem?
3> rattling sound!! -- occasionally, i do hear some noise coming from the driver side window, and some from the back. sounded like rubbing btw rubber/leather surfaces, but my interior is fabric.. i really like to point this out at the 1000km service later. what's ur advise? what's the best words to convince them to fix it? :D

39km's is normal. Mine had about the same cause the car we test drove was the car we bought.
Never had the scratches problem but certainly make sure it's fixed.
Do a search on the forum, there are a few threads about rattles, but certainly get it fixed up, might just be something loose in the door.

i picked mine up last week, it had 11km on it
no problems with scratches on mine
the only noise i get is if i have certain songs on small pieces of the front door trims seem to vibrate a little other than that no issues :)

It's not ideal but I think anything below 50km or 100km is still treated as a new car so there's nothing you can do about it. Someone may want to confirm the kms. This is also depended on if your car had to be driven to other places for things to get installed like body kits or window tints.
2> there're lots of fine scratches around the driver door handle area. i told the SA abt it and he said he'll get it polished at 1000km service. anyone had this problem?
This you should of got them to polish off first before receiving the car. You have the right to not pick up the car if it's not up to a new car standard. But the I guess it depends on how bad it is.
Let them hear it, and get them to fix it. You don't need to convince them if you can get them to hear it. It's under warranty.
Good luck.
me had about 15km when picked up, and scratches, not good, complain.

you should've inspected the car before you drove off. No way I wouldve picked up a car with scratches on it, well I would be kicking up a stink if I was you.

39km is ok. anything below 50 is fine. The dealer should fix the scratches there and then, not at 1000km. Call and let them know the rattles ASAP too.
I think it depends whether they have to fit something to your car or not. When i picked up my car it was around 40km but it's because they need to drive the car to the place where they need to fit the parking sensor and paint protection.

39km
i can drive to the city and back already
it is a lot for a brand new car
they they should have a truck to delivery the car if u added something on top but not ask someone to drive your car to that place.

I had scratches on my euro at random places, one near door, few on rear, few on front, very hard to see unless you were looking for them, i missed them on initial inspection. Got them to buff them out @ 1000km service, others i noticed @ another time eventually washed themselves out. According to my dealer they are from the wrap they're bought into the country in. They were more than happy to fix em, the first lot i watched them do it, no dodgy business imo.

I thought I had a few dodgy paint spots, but it turned out just to residue from the shipping protection. After a few washes, they were gone...
I had about 14 km on the car when I picked it up. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about 39 km...

Gee some of you are picky - mine had 76kms on it :P
I have developed a few small rattles here and there but it is a car not a sound proof recording studio - I think you will find the warranty does not cover rattles :)

all mine usually have up to 20ks........max 25k's on em, coz they have to go from our storage yard, to pre delivery then to cleaners then back to the dealership, all in a few k's of dealership....
but if u get over 30 its been driven for a test or they have to drive it a fare way to get cleaned
BiLL|z0r

I would have thought the dealers would have cleaners onsite these days. They'd be getting heaps of cars cleaned everyday so wouldn't it make sense to do it onsite?

If you did have all the dealer rip off options, then they would have to drive your car out to the detailers to put on paint protection, tint and all the other assortment of rip offs and french fries. :D

i have bought many new cars and the most ks on mine has been 11km with the least being a mazda bravo ute with 3km.
i picked my euro up with 9km on the clock..
39km is acceptable if you accept it but i would not.
everytime i have bought a new car i specify that it not be driven or i will not accept it .
the reason you have 39km on it is because someone must have test driven it.

At the end of the day, who gives a toss about an extra 30 odd km's. If no1 has driven a car before there might be something obviously wrong with it that no1 knows about. I'd prefer some1 take it for a quick spin around the block and know that it stops and goes at least. As I said, ours had about the same km's on it, but that's becuase it was test driven by someone, me. Before that it hadn't been driven at all. I know cause it still had all the plastic wrap all over and in it before we jumped in.
I'd be more concerned about the scratches than anything.

thanks for all feedback. i definitely woundnt prefer my new car to be test-driven, and you know how ppl test new cars :( . what if they floored the gas to test the aceleration and this is very harmful to a new car that hasn't been broken in yet (<1000km according to manual).
nothing that i could do now.. should have done something on delivery day... what the heck was i thinking

I picked up my MY06 recently and it had 23km on it. Thought it would be less but sounds acceptable. I spent about 20 minutes checking out exterior and interior with my brother in-law before signing all the paperwork. Made sure it didn't have any scratches etc... Definately get them to fix this up - At least you should have the honour of oputting the first scratch in it (unless it's a bloody stone chip!!!!).
On the first service I did raise an issue with buzzing/rattling when stereo is around 10-11 but they said checked/tighened the trim and other cars all do the same.

Boleh: Do you have window tinting fitted to your Euro? Rattles could be from loose door penel or window glass's top edge rubbing against rubber seal..
To check it, lower the window slightly ( I mean, push the botton for only 0.5 second), if the noise is gone, then that means the rattle is from glass rubbing the rubber seal. The solution is to apply so Silicon spray on the rubber seal around the window (you need to lower your window to do this.) IF you have sunroof, good idea to apply some silicon apray around its rubber seal too.

My car had been to blackmans in sydney for leather trim before being trucked to Wollongong and still only had 6.8klm at delivery. Leather job excellent by the way.
39klm could be a case of Ferris Buellers Day off?
All things are warranty even the scratches (if they were pionted out ) so don't panic

Hey - this is very interesting. I've had rattles in my car since the beginning. Essendon Honda service had the car for 3 days, claimed the rattle was gone, but it still remains. I didn't have time to follow it up last time, but am hoping to get it fixed on my 10k service (which is now like 12.5...) . I am probably not taking it back to Essendon, after my last experience - Courtney Patterson in Heidelberg will probably get my servicing from now on.
It is extremely prominent on concrete surface, e.g. pretty much anywhere in Sydney, but in Melbourne these roads are not everywhere - so would need to go for a bit of a drive to demonstrate the repairer... On normal bitchumen it's more intermittent, some not so smooth surfaces bring it up but others don't. When closing the window, if listening very closely, there is a hint of the vibration there just as it shuts, which is not audible on the others - this does require "an ear" for things though; just like some people don't notice 60hz CRT refresh rates, they may not be able to pick it up.
Nevertheless, I find it very annoying especially since the much cheaper 02 Civic hatch I had before had none of this.
There's also the issue of snapping sounds from the back, just behind the left seat. I've actually sat in the back right with the seat folded down - I could feel some sort of "thud" every time it happened ... as if it builds up energy getting into a position, then when the buildup is too much, releases it by snapping out - then repeat.
They had a welder on this and the sounds have abated somehow, but it also seems to be an intermittent thing.
Now, back to the window, I just took it for a drive and rolling the windows down by 10-15 cm, the rattle was almost not there. However just a couple of CMs would not stop it.
I can actually stop the rattle / vibrating buzzing sound by pulling the door handle, so I'm not sure where this makes my problem fit.
Comments would be very much appreciated - I just want to get the rattles out of my Euro so as to be able to fully enjoy it.

hi there
do you have sunroof?
cause with the sunroof
if you dont open sunroof and left the cover open half way, not completely opened
it will cause some noise when driving.

Yep got a sunroof but the problem is not with that. Had noise from there before but Essendon managed to fix that one.

All my creaks, squeaks and thuds are back as well. I'm starting to get really pissed. It's all in the suspension front and back. They say they've lubed and tightened everything so I'm starting to think it's faulty bushes, shocks or something not welded correctly.

The rattle is actually still there. It's just that the wind noise is louder than the rattle.

No point lubing and tightening anything. Basically the creaks are caused by body flexing. There's no permanent way to fix it. No matter how you fix it, the creaks and squeaks will still come back.

It still shouldn't do it though. It it was a $13000 driveawya hyundai I'd expect it, but not a $38K Honda. Even so, I still gotta get the thuds sorted, you can feel back through the steering wheel.

Honda paint is also quite soft and does show up alot scratches..Most of them seen are usually owner related(and no i'm not pointing fingers).39kms is also acceptable IF you had tint or similar work done to car..or could of even been a dealer swap in which case kilometres are recorded when being recieved from other dealers.Scratches in paint at door handles should of been taken care of at pre-delivery but scratches are definately not covered by warranty as previously stated..Honda dealers cannot even get any return when certain models have shocking paint from factory and takes excessive hours before a car can even be considered as being presentable to the new owner. The noises in your car should be rectified at first service, but don't let them give you the run around,if they cannot fix them on the day(keeping in mind that all rattles and noises are all goodwill warranty by the dealer and NOT the factory)then demand a loan car and tell them you will be back the next night to pick your car up..this will give them extra incentive to get your car fixed right the first time..cause the loan cars are more often the the staff drive cars at night...see my point...but congrats on your new car..hope you enjoy it more than you have so far..
da reading on my odo was only 11.6kms i think urs is a lil bit too high..about those scratches and da sound i wudnt noe...neva happened to me
