hi, i just swapped my engine in my 89 crx to a jap zc, and now when i hit 5500rpm it dont go no further like fuel cuts out. Feels the same as when you go past redline and the ecu cuts the fuel off.

Cananyone give me a tip if it somethin easy to fix before i take it into the shop.

Thanks

sounds like your ECU is in limp mode.

Check your ECU for error codes and go from there.

how do you get it out of limp mode if it is?? and what makes it go into limp mode.

read some more...

if you search, there is a good artlicle on here which shows step by step how to read the codes from an ecu.

Then you can decide what action is required to fix it

moved to the civic/crx section

And look - here is the DIY ECU CHECK thread I created awhile back....very handy !

Do it , and get back to us if there are any codes.
BTW - your "ECU check light" is located on the ECU (its a small globe in the centre that emits the code)

yes.
Sam went from one D16A8 to another.
(Pretty much a simple exchange over...)

Also, it appears that the ECU is not driving the car into limp-mode as it's not throwing any CELs...

he wouldn't be able to get it to 5500 if he was in limp mode... gets limited a bit closer to 3k

Did you do the ECU test properly? Does the MIL light come on when you turn the ignition (in order to make sure its working).

Are there any other problems such as lack of power before hits 5,500rpm? Could be a problem with your tacho even.

Try reseting your ECU by disconnecting your battery for a couple of hours and go from there.
