G'day.

My crx is blowing white smoke at startup (i think its white), but there is a fair bit of it, and there is a little bit whilst running. And when i open the oil filler cap, it comes from there too.

so basically, is my engine screwed???

might be ur headgasket is leaking coolant into the combustion chambers...regardless , take the car toa professional mech. and get a compression or leakdown test.

Sounds like your headgasket.

Mine is doing the exact same thing, Blows heaps of smoke at start-up, some while driving, but I know my head-gasket is screwed.

You can open your radiator cap (make sure the car is cold/warm) make sure the coolant is full and start it up, let it warm up and if there are heaps of bubbles, positive pressure pushing water out, then your head gasket is screwed.

Also check for oil in your coolant and coolant in the oil and you should
do a compression check and leakdown test aswell.

If your mechanic does it, probably $500-$600

If you can do it yourself it'll be around $175.

Is your car boosted?
